Jim Harbaugh to Michigan?

It would be good for the Big Ten if Michigan gets him. I get the feeling though this is a desperation offer by Michigan and that Harbaugh has already turned them down previously.

I'm not sold that Harbaugh is a homerun hire.

He was obviously successful at Stanford but I think it's a lot easier to sell a young kid on Cali weather, and women, the ocean and the beach than it is to explain how winning games 20 years ago before the kids were even alive is going to affect them personally.

So maybe this is more of a reflection on the Michigan job than it is Harbuagh himself. I also think the B1G national perspective is a bigger problem than anyone realizes.

Maybe it's just a Wisconsin problem but seeing 2 coaches leave a successful program with what looks to be a bright future based on the division they play in should raise a lot of questions.

Now maybe I'm stretching a Wisconsin problem to a conference problem but look at the hires being made...

I had to Google to find out who the new Nebraska head coach was and granted Chryst is a Wisconsin guy but he's a head coach with a .500 record.

Disagree on the recruiting. Brady freaking Hoke brought in top 10 classes, Harbaugh would kill it recruiting wise at Michigan

Hoke has great recruiting classes every year he was there so getting talent there wasn't the problem.

Of course it's easier to sell a young kid on Cali, beaches, and women but those things have always existed and yet Mich football has been relevant before. Harbaugh didn't resurrect Stanford because of these things. If you think that you are vastly undervaluing him as a coach. If he accepts the Mich gig he will be competing with OSU in a few years no doubt. It's a matter if he wants to come back to college ball or stay in the NFL.

Imagine in a few years after Capt Cautious leaves and if we somehow miraculously get Stoops/Biels to come back. Meyer, Harbaugh, and Stoops/Biels in the B1G. There would be some exciting games to watch again.

LOL. Comparing Harbaugh to Schembechler is ********. He's going to flame out there just like he did with the 49ers. His fire might burn hot for a year or two but then it's over. Just like in San Francisco.

What is the word that is asterisked out? Eight letters...

bulls***?
dumbs***?
dumbf***?
f***s***?
s***f***?

I need to know this.

I'm going to laugh when it turns out Michigan was being played by Harbaugh and his people so he could get traded to Oakland or Miami for a lot less than a 1st or 2nd round pick. I don't think Harbaugh has ANY intentions of going back to the college game. Therefore, his people can leak the dollar amount Michigan offered him and freak out the 49ers into either trading him for less than he's worth so as to get something for him or essentially setting the floor for anyone wanting his services. Looks like Michigan's the bridesmaid again....

I thought this was the inevitable outcome all along.... Deace had been calling it from the git go. It just makes too much sense for him to end up there. Why would you stay in the NFL for the same money maybe less money then what Michigan is offering to take on a rebuild job for teams that are stinking it up now? He'd have no job security in the NFL he'll have to put up with other GMs and owners he might not/probably won't get along with. The college game just suites him better. He can be as hands on a boss as he wants recruit what kids he wants on a platform where the AD will be his whipping boy (much like Barta is to Ferentz) I'd have a tough time thinking that after he sits down and factors everything that he won't take the Michigan job.

another boneheaded move by Michigan if true.

If he brings Michigan back to prominence then this offer is worth every penny. I agree with others that he will clean up on recruiting. If I am a four or five star recruit I would definitely want to listen to Harbaugh.

I agree that the college game suits him better and the money and control at Michigan is much more than at SF at this point. But Harbaugh is a fierce competitor. He wants to compete & win at the highest level. He came very close to winning one Super Bowl and has been very close to reaching two others. The ultimate prize for a coach is to win the Super Bowl and I would imagine he wants to do that. Had he won it a few years ago against Baltimore, I think he says, "enough is enough" with the NFL and heads to Michigan.

I hope he goes to Michigan. It would be good for the B1G. However, Iowa's recent success against Michigan would probably come to a screeching halt.

There's that and also the fact that John has a super bowl ring and Jim doesn't. I'm sure that gets under his skin. Same with the Manning brothers. In Peyton's case he has at least won one but not as many as his less competent brother.

Yeah, i think he stays in the NFL also. Does anyone think Saban would have come back to college if he had been successful at Miami? Harbaugh can have his pick of jobs that come open this year. The college game will always be there if he bombs his NFL gig. Steve Deace is going to be very disapointed..LOL
