Jets showed how to beat a spread offense

Sometimes I wonder why I bother.. For example, Michigan and tOSU use running spread offenses. For example, Purdue, Northwestern, and Missouri use passing spread offenses.

Iowa's defense can hold its own against a run spread offense until an opponent breaks down Iowa's defensive gaps - because Iowa defense doesn't have many athletes or their atleticism isn't showcased. Iowa's defense is, well, pathetic against a passing spread offense. More hope than actual defense.

The Patriots use a passing spread offense.

Come on, brah.....You honestly think its the same type of spread offense? You really think Brady is getting his key from the defensive end based upon whether he crashes down or not? We are talking apples and oranges here.

Those in-game adjustments yesterday could have been made if Randy Moss or whoever were there to stretch the field.

Trust me, if Fitzgerald could get guys to Northwestern that can get vertical and make people miss in space they would be there.

I was only referencing the fact that when the offense doesn't have receivers that can stretch the field vertically (Northwestern), you can afford to play more press coverage (which I think we should do more of against Northwestern and Indiana). If you leave help over the top with the safeties, you are very unlikely to get burned deep against teams with those kind of receivers.

Patriots no longer has anyone that can stretch the field so you can afford to gamble and play press coverage.

FWIW, the Giants from the Super Bowl 3 years ago actually put the blueprint out there on how to beat the Pats.

This.

The Patriots traded away their only possible deep threat in Randy Moss earlier in the year. The Jets only had to really worry about the underneath patterns because the Patriots have no one to beat them on the deep ball.
