Jess Settles & BTN Watches 1996 Game vs Illinois

No I don't remember this game but its kinda fun to watch. Damn CK had some serious f'ing range.

Damn awesome find TK, thanks for posting. Now I know what I will be doing tonight instead of flipping channels!

Some of the passes of that era frustrated me so much. Like when they'd go to feed the post do they even look before doing it? It's not like a pick and roll where there's a bit of anticipation involved. For those it's see that he's open and then pass it. They had so many post feeds knocked away and flat out stolen it blows my mind

Thanks for posting this! The 1996 team was probably my favorite Davis team post 1993. Would've been fun to see them match up with our team last year, or the year before with White and Olaseni. 2015 probably would've destroyed the 1996 press though, but Millard's 3 point shooting may have pulled Woody out enough that White and Uthoff would've had trouble with the more physical guys like Settles down low. But Gesell and Sapp probably would've slowed down Woolridge enough too, and who knows if Kingsbury would be in the zone that game. It's funny how much Glasper and Sapp were so similar, complete with being really a second point guard playing the two.

What a fun game to watch. Really loved Mr. Davis's style of basketball. This game had great flow and I really couldn't help but notice that they would just let the teams play without a whistle on just about every play. Just entertaining basketball, yet it wasn't a total mugging, either. IMO college hoops in those days was just a much better product.

That Iowa team was stacked - Settles, Kingsbury, Murray, Millard, Woolridge.. Not sure how they didn't have a better season than they did, to be honest. IIRC, that team was Top 10 early on and beat UConn in the Great Alaska Shootout, but I remember that season overall being a bit of a disappointment considering the pre-season hype.
