Jerry Palm's early bowl projections



Pundits still love Wis....assuming that Mel Gordon and Corey Clemens will keep them tough, and ignoring how they lost 6 of their front 7 on defense and have QB issues, and no vet WR's or TE's. We will see. Not buying right now...they have to come to Kinnick.

Also has MSU and Mich making the other big bowls on Jan 1....so 3 teams from the east are going to the top 4 bowls? Not likely.

Wisky has LSU...that is a loss. Then they go to Iowa...if they run the table in the west, with a loss to LSU and then lose to OSU...so a 2 loss Wisky goes to Fiesta? Not seeing it...they will lose at least 3.

As for Michigan and MSU...they have to lose to OSU for OSU to make the playoff, and then one other will lose in their game...Michigan is a real reach. MSU should be good, but not Michigan...if there are 4 good bowl teams for the league...2 will be out of the West, and 2 from the East. Wis could make the Capitol or Outback, with Nebby or Iowa making the other, or if Iowa goes 11-1 but loses to Wis and does not win the West, Iowa could be in the Fiesta.

The super bowl keeps getting played later and later so the College Natty Champ game keeps getting later.

Pretty soon we will be watching the hawks play their last home game of the season at kinnick in first week of december. There will be way more bowl games in Jan. that Dec. Global warming will make all this possible

Maybe someday the super bowl will be sandwiched between the College Bball saturday semis and the monday national championship game.
