Some of you may have seen this, but

Seems Jay has gotten his groove back on in terms of speed. My brother coaches for Union High and said Jay struggled with ailing knees during his Sr season in FB. Just didn't look himself. Maybe the reason he fell from 4 to 3 stars. Says Jay has gotten healthy now, and is running like a rabbit. Plan on this guy contributing big time 2 seasons from now, when he puts on some weight and muscle.

To bad we have to wait two years. But I'm still glad he's a Hawk. Kind a reminds me of Cotton coming out of Mt Pleasant and all his speed.

Is he a freshman this year? I forgot all about him or I would have looked for him at Saturdays practice. Don't recall seeing him out there

He is just finishing up his senior year and did not enroll early.

He wont be on campus until June.

I remember when shimonek said it was on as well (I realize jay didn't say anything of the sort) the only thing that's on for him is a redshirt. My point is, let's wait and see. Big step up from hs ball in la port to D1.

I think that unless Jay is the missing piece to the offense, he should be redshirted.

We have 4 WR coming off their redshirt years and they do sound promising. We could always use more speed, but hopefully we can get what we need from the young guys we already have on campus.

Is there any potential for him to stay at qb and become the next brad banks???????

It'd sure be fun to have an electric qb. He'll have some competition with the other qbs committed too. I don't know if he'll want to keep trying to be a qb much along the same lines as Derby or if he'll want to try and get on the field faster another way.

I'd say not likely but who knows down the line. Jay is a HUGE threat to run at any time and has speed and moves. Has an arm too. But Captain K likes the guys that are not flashy and sit back there waiting for a sack.....

Yeah, Rudock's a real statue back there.

This is 100% spot on. I remember Chandler back in whatever year that was.

Yeah what a dud. I can't believe we went 10-3 and finished ranked 8th even though we started the year unranked with that loser at the helm. What we need are flashy guys, not solid winners like Chandler.

Come on people. Of all schools hasn't Iowa proven just over the course of the last 10 years or so that you can win with either type of QB. Iowas won when they had a 5th string rb back there most of the year and they've won with Greene being the bell cow carrying the ball a ton. They've won with a Drew Tate and a Brad Banks and they've won with a Nathan Chandler. I think that the coaches think Rudock is the best of both worlds. He's not a statue back there and he's probably the most book smart kid he's ever had. I'm fired up to see what he can do going forward. As far as Scheel goes I don't know if he'll get a fair shot at it since the next two years he'll have Rudock there plus Beathard and Shimonek all with considerable more time in the program plus 3 other commits. I think it'll be a competition/numbers game problem with Scheel and if he wants to get on the field sooner it'd just have to be at another position. But if this August he comes in and his athleticism impresses he coaches and plays lights out you just never know..
