Jay Paterno Interviewed, Says Freeh Report 'Basically An Opinion' - SBNation.com

I thought I read somewhere he and his family were
anticipating this report because it was the full investigation his father wanted. Here's from article:

Jay Paterno called the report "basically an opinion" and "not a legal document," finding that Freeh came to "reasonable conclusions" in the absence of facts and used the "same facts we've had" to come to a "different interpretation." The apparently damning emails "were conversations [investigators] were not party to, that they subscribed meaning to."

Jay Paterno touted the "higher burden of proof" of "sworn testimony" that runs contrary to the items in the Freeh report. He noted the 1998 incident was not pursued by law enforcement and the coach turned the 2001 claim over to his superiors.

Jay Paterno just looks like an idiot. He didn't shut up when JoPa got fired and he continues to not shut up now. Do your self a favor and go away for a while.

I understand the wanting to defend your father, who has been your lifelong hero.....but in this instance, he does not deserve to be defended. Silence would serve the Paterno Family well.

Surprised the rest of the family hasn't told him to shut up. Doubt they want their opinions public. Has any other member of the family spoken out?

I saw an interview on ESPN this morning and just shook my head the whole time. He is not doing himself or the Paterno family any good. He would be better served to just STFU.

JayPa is fighting a losing battle but I'll never begrudge a guy for defending his family. He looks pretty foolish though.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, basically. I understand his mindset, but he should understand that he's not helping things when he speaks out. He can't clear his father's name, because it is un-clearable. He simply does not grasp that fact.
Then again, denial is one of the grief stages, as is anger, and he's displaying them in textbook fashion.
He should do his grieving in private.

The dude saw the coattails he has rode his whole life get torn off and shredded. The specter of realizing he is going to have to go out and make his own life has got to be seriously daunting.

Perhaps we should really be criticizing the press for giving him airtime. The best way to get him to go away is to stop sticking a mic in his face.

I highly doubt he's hurting for money.

Thought I read that somewhere:

Paterno's son, Jay, told NBC's ''Today'' his family was awaiting the report's release and hoped it would be the thorough investigation his father wanted.

''We've never been afraid of the truth, so let's have the truth come out,'' Jay Paterno said.

Oh wow, after reading that just made his statements he made on ESPN look that much more stupid.

Caar is right, they need to stop putting a mic in front of his face. Obviously dad is not around anymore to tell him to shut up and sit down.

It is often hard for people to accept that a person that they love and look up to like a family member could be involved in something as horrible as this. You see it all the time even when the evidence is stacked heavily against their family member people want to believe that it can't be true because to accept the facts as they are would really devastae them. He is in denial and it is sad to see.

Somebody on this board has, or at least had, a very catchy sig-line that sums this up nicely, and with attitude.......

Pajayjay needs to step away from the microphone before he says something that makes it look like he's desperately trying to float a sinking ship.
