Jamie Dixon > Bruce Pearl

This guy is one of the premier coaches in the country. He has never won LESS than 20 games, and has been to the Sweet 16 twice and the Elite 8.

The fact that he wound up in Blue on Jon's list is amazing to me, and frankly I don't buy the talk about him wanting to get out of a pro sports town.

BUT, if that is true and there is something behind that. Iowa would be crazy not to throw the same kind of money at him as everyone wants them to throw at Bruce Pearl.

Dixon would be a MAJOR splash, and would cause the rest of the coaches in the conference to have a collective case of "oh crap."

I would rate Pearl ahead of Dixon just because of the Iowa ties. As far as success and coaching, they seem pretty even to me.

Dixon would be a great hire and I'd rank him up there with Pearl. I would give Pearl the upper hand *if* he would bring Forbes with him for recruiting.

I think Dixon is one of the top 10 coaches in the country, but I don't think he has any interest in the Iowa job. He has been leaking his name out there for a few jobs, I've heard the Oregon job for sure, and it's probably just to try to get a raise.

Dixon is the far better coach. Far better. Better results in a WAY better conference. Loses a lot of his team and all he does is get them a 3 seed in the dance. His teams are tougher than Pearls, play better defense, and are more consistent

I actually can't really argue that. I would be thrilled with either Dixon or Pearl as our coach, but Dixon's resume is outstanding. Pitt has become a household name in the Big East. For a while I wondered how much Dixon was coasting off of what Ben Howland built there, but Dixon has been with them now at least 6-7 years, and they haven't slipped one bit.

Re: Jaime Pressly >> Jamie Dixon and Bruce Pearl

Let's get the correct Jaime.

I am skeptical of everyone this time around until I hear exactly how he has maintained a program. Howland built Pitt. Dixon inherited a good program and has kept it good. How? He has tapped a lot of local talent..like Blair, who happened to be very good. He has recruited the east coast...can he recruit the midwest? Who are his recruiting assistant sharpshooters? I am not saying he is not great, but I would need to hear how he would bring talent and resurrect a down program at Iowa. Might be tougher for an outsider to succeed in building a program in the midwest than maintaining a strong program in the east.
I like him from a distance...but I need to hear more before I say he is a slamdunk. We just had a coach who was a program maintainer. We need a builder.

I would hope if you can convince somebody to willingly move to Pittsburgh, you can surely talk somebody into relocating to Iowa City.

Dixon would be more of a Big 10 style coach and Pearl would shake things up. I don't know which is better for iowa though.
