James Morris Growing Up Fast In Big10

I'm excited to see how the freshman James Morris performs against what some people may perceive as the most dynamic offense in the Big10.

James was cast into substantial playing time vs Penn St & Iowa really never missed a beat. The QB of the defense played admirably & recieved rave reviews from head coach Kirk Ferentz.

With an injury still plagueing Jeff Tarpinian, Morris may see substantial time as the signal caller at the Big House vs Michigan. What a place to hone the freshman's skills, at Michigan in front of 110,000 against a dynamic offensive player in Denard Robinson that is not seen by most. I have no doubt he will succeed as he just seems to have a "football mind" & toughness that cannot be taught. He most likely will share dutes with Troy Johnson but will see ample time in the rotation.

There is some weight on Mr. Morris's shoulders this week, but I am confident he can get the job done & even earn more respect from his teammates & coaches. It will be fun to watch.

It just adds more to this intriguing match-up against Iowa & Michigan.

Morris is going to make mistakes but his first game with mega minutes was IMPRESSIVE! He is going to be a stud of a linebacker over the next several years.

When I first saw the Morris interview from summer camp, I knew he was going to be a special player. He said all the right things about staying humble, working hard, listening to the coaches and older players, etc. He's a really bright kid and a hell of a hard worker from what I've heard. I actually think he may fare better in this game than Tarpinian would have. He was an incredible HS sprinter and that speed should pay off against Denard.

I thought Morris played great against Penn State, but if Troy Johnson is ready to go he will be the manning the Mike spot this weekend. Morris has a great upside and will be a great linebacker the next 3 years, but they won't give him the nod ahead of Troy Johnson. I'm hoping Tarp will be cleared and ready to play tomorrow but we have a few good options here. We can't have any sloppy tackling in this one.

Morris is going to be good. But unfortunately, I don't think this is the game where rookie mistakes can be easily forgiven. A missed assignment, or a bite on play action could have much more serious consequences against a team completely capable of making big plays.

Hopefully he proves me wrong.
