Jaleel Johnson, D-line and Reese Morgan

Doesn't get the credit he deserves. Did he play every snap last night? I know Ekakitie played considerably but wasn't he always replacing Bazata??

Man if we can develop some D-line depth next year and give him a few more blows, he could have a monster year.

Losing Meier, but everyone else who finished the season will return. I feel really good about Parker Hesse. Matt Nelson needs to get bigger and improve considerably. Anyone heard about the other Nelson and his development? Potentially interesting bookends some day. 6'8" and 6'7".

I just hope Reese Morgan doesn't retire before KF. The man can flat out coach. He doesn't get the credit HE deserves.

If Hesse can put on some weight, he could be good.

I think we'll miss Meier quite a bit. That dude flat out busted asss on every single play.

Absolutely did. And I think he played hurt most of the year. Tough, undersized dude. Held his own and then some.

Those two really stepped up after losing Ott.

Definitely.

And hats off to Jim Reid as well. Everyone thought LBwould be a weak spot. But they've been rock solid, with Jewel being a god damn revelation.

Hesse already is pretty good. With some more development, he's a future NFL player. I thought he could turn into something special at Iowa when I saw him play at Waukon two years ago. I know I'll miss watching Meier play; I first saw him at the Dome when he was an absolute man among boys in the 8-man state title game, and watching him develop from the vastly overmatched and undersized freshman/sophomore into a damn solid DE as a senior has been a lot of fun. But if Ott gets the RS, pairing him with Hesse will be something to see.
