Jake Vandenberg

Jake was a highly touted QB that was a bust. JVB was not touted as highly and was a bust.

True, but after 2009, some folks had declared him the next Peyton Manning.

I think JVB is worse in my mind. People bust all the time, but Vandy had a season last year that led pretty much everyone to label him the best pure QB in the bigten. It just doesn't look like he believes in himself, and that definitely rubs off on the team. They will never say it and they may not even realize they notice, but they do.

Seems to me that Vandenberg has regressed under Davis. Doesn't seem sharp at all most of the time and is missing a lot of wide open receivers and trying to force it into guys that are covered.

The next guy in doesn't always work but even if Rudock plays worse than Vandy I am still for letting him play every other series like we did our runningbacks a few years ago. The experience will really help him with next season. If Vandy starts to tear it up on his series then you could go back with leaving him in there. Our current runningback is a good example. If it weren't for injuries he would be nothing more than another blocker in the backfield. He may actually be the best out of what we got even with everyone healthy. The guy plays with a tude, something that is lacking on this team. Does KF play his best players? Who is to say that Rudock doesn't bring tude? KF needs to get him some experience even if it means losing a game or two.

It can't get worse. If you can have RBs go for 469 yards and 5 TDs in 2 games against teams with a combined record of 2-7 at the time we play them and still lose then you could put me at QB and it won't get worse.

BTW, no chance anyone but Vandy takes a snap this year, barring injury or getting blown out.

I wouldn't even say he has regressed. Looks about the same as last year. Today was a microcosm of his tenure as starter. He had a hot stretch (started 7/7 for 130 and a TD) and then was too inconsistent to move the chains much for a good deal of the second half, but still ended up with decent numbers because of his hot stretch.

Last year, he put up videogame numbers against LA-Monroe, NW, and Indiana, making his final season line look like he was an All-American.

Vandy didn't have the football smarts with Okeefe's lame 5 play offense last year, we expect him to figure out Davis' more complex scheme?
