Jake Rudock was listed as the #24 overall Quarterback in the 2011 recruiting class which includes Cardale Jones #33 overall, and JOHNNY FOOTBALL #36 overall via ESPN.

Does the coaching or system have an impact on the success difference between each quarterback? If Rudock had Texas A&M or OSU's coaching staff do you guys think he would be a better quarterback?

Interesting question. My guess is Jake was highly overrated due to being on the best high school team in the country, with more talent than ISU. He was throwing to better WRs in HS than Hillyer and others who he throws to now. His line also likely gave him all day long to throw.
 
Jake is athletically limited. Surprised ESPN listed him that high. Rivals had the other guys ahead of him. They both have more athleticism and a higher physical ceiling.

Jake just has a limited physical ceiling. Good quarterback, just not blessed with size, a live arm, or great feet.

When JC played QB it was like the field was a magnet and the football was made of metal. He was one of the most disappointing recruits I can remember.
 
You guys aren't giving him enough credit for all the things he has done and the obstacles he has had to overcome.
 
You're never sure how these kids will turn out. He's got the character attributes that Kirk loves. He's got DI talent...so you never know.
 
I don't really understand all the dumping on Rudock (besides the fact that everyone has giant wood for the backup). He's done what has been asked of him by the coaches. He started and played well last year after never having played a down at the collegiate level; and he righted the ship after a dreadful 2012 year. He got better/smarter his 2nd year, throwing for 2400+ yds, 16 TDs, and 5 ints. He knows the offense very well and is complete control when on the field. He doesn't have the strongest arm (but it's definity a decent arm), but he is very good on the intermediate and shorter routes.
 
It's not Jakes fault that he can't make the throws it takes to be a average QB in a weak Big Ten. KF deserves to take all the heat for the bad football and player decisions.
 
Jake has been serviceble. He lacks deep throw talent which is why he almost always ignores the down field route for the easier 5 yd out.

JR plays up to his talents. No Iowa fan doesn't appreciate his effort and dedication. But he isn't the best qb on the team but he still plays. That is kfootballs fault and kfootball's decision to continue playing JR has made JR the face of frustration fans have with kfootball. It is all on kfootball.

If his glowing endorsement is that he knows the offense and is good at throwing the ball short then I think you have answered your own question.

JR could play next year as the backup, and he'd be no less a player, no less a Hawkeye. And still a great kid with a bright future. I think 99% of Hawks fans would agree with that.

If failing to even look at wide open receivers is doing what the coaches desire, we are f'd.

Its not not that Riddick is terrible. It's that Sunshine has a way better arm.
