Izzo's Pressers After Losses Getting Annoying.

I am really starting to get annoyed with Izzo's pressers after losses. I've seen them after Iowa's loss and caught parts of them after Wisky & Nebby. Glimpses on BTN or Sportscenter. During every one, he seems to make a statement or reference to bad calls that have gone against them. Even better, first he starts out with an apology to the opposing team before a L handed compliment, usually referencing that the opposing team played a good game or were tough or are well coached then goes on to say but we really played without effort or played stupid.

I'm fine with the L handed compliments but him constantly stating "we had calls go against us" is getting old, especially after they've had years of getting EVERY call. He literally has commented on that with every loss. He rides the line of calling out the officials and wants to make a point, but close to crossing the line & getting fined.

Anybody else notice this?

He's just a turd who's used to complimenting the other team after they beat up on them. I was especially annoyed when he said clemmons isn't a good shooter and yet even his shots were going in. Just a spoiled brat attitude.

Unfortunately I'm sure they'll still make a deep run in the NCAA tourney, and then next year they signed 2 5-stars and 2 4-stars so they'll be right back at the top.

In the past I've always thought the calls went Izzo's way, no matter who was playing them. So now the calls are not going his way all the time he turns into a crybaby (which is what he looks like on the sideline at times). Maybe he should lobby to bring Hightower out of retirement. ;)

"I told Fran your teams haven't been tough in the past, you're tough, but your teams have not been".

Some Iowa fans might not like that he said it, but it is definitely true. I don't think it can even be disputed.

Being tough means playing the same every game and not being up and down one game to the next. MSU is like that, typically. We were like that when Horner and Bruner were seniors. We were not like that during Aaron White's junior year, to be sure and we weren't like that any year Fran was here, up until the last half of last year's conference schedule.

People might not like that he said it because it is a slam in some ways. It's just honest and it's a nice compliment if you want to see it that way.

As for whining about calls in press conferences, I am sure every coach gets asked about bad calls. They might say they got some bad ones, and you hear that. The clip also probably goes away before you hear them say that they have to be better than that or tha the coaches need to be better. coaches like him, that are that successful, usually don't get that way by blaming someone else for losses and not taking responsibility for them. That doesn't mean that they don't whine during games to try to get calls.

He's gotten calls year after year. This year games are being called the way basketball games are supposed to be called. So from his perspective the calls are going against them. But in reality games are being called according to the rules now IMO.

Izzo will have to change his approach to the game and coaching if this year's interpretation sticks. My guess is he will continue to do it his way at least one more season (2016-2017) and see if this cleaned up game is here to stay.
