I've never seen a coach....

Bad loss tonight. No doubt. Very frustrating to watch this team squander a great opportunity against a team with a losing B1G record, stay up in the standings, and maybe move up in rankings/seeding.

It just goes to show that this team can lose to anybody in the B1G, even at home, if they don't play well.

But this isn't last year. That collapse was due to pathetic defense. Until I start seeing that, I think this team will still finish with a winning conference record and get to NCAA tournament. Hopefully they can regroup on Saturday and get a road win.

Ben Jacobsen is a much better coach then Fran. Gary Barta is a idiot for hiring this hot head.

Ben is a very good coach. Fran absolutely has a temper, but I like the improvement hes made every year. This team Should make the dance.

I will only consider questioning Fran IF the team collapses again and doesnt get a 8-10 seed In the NCAA tourney.

Recruiting looks pretty good next year. So far, I think the team has gotten better every year under Fran....so far.

Jury is still out. Like i have mentioned before, don't be surprised if a new president= new AD= new basketball and football coach. I don't think it's a stretch at all.

...who is so inept at handling success.

Last year, we get to 8-3 in the B1G and #10 in the nation, then drop a heartbreaker to Wisky. Fran goes ape$hit on the team concerning Twitter in the middle of a great season, causing an unnecessary distraction, and we win exactly one of our remaining 8 games.

This year, we get to #25, then get absolutely mauled by Wisky. Then we string together 2 of the better games we've played in a decade, and Fran uses that momentum to go ape$hit on the media for absolutely no reason, causing an unnecessary distraction, and we get beat at home by a 4-7 team.

The guy just can't get out of his own way.

If we blow the remaining schedule because of his BS antics and manufactured distractions and miss the REAL NCAA tourney again, then he needs to be shown the door. Period.

Completely agree with this

His rotations are a big part of the problem.

You don't have a good bench but still insist on putting three or four subs in all together.

Its just stupid.

Not just big its a Huge problem. There were some really headscratching lineups tonight and at critical moments. I don't get it, at all.. I'm not going to name names but Fran has trust in a player that I'm not understanding.

AW: High School -- Selected to play in the 2012 All-American Championship at the Final Four in New Orleans, posting a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds... three-time first team All-State, All-Missouri River Conference, All-Northwest Iowa and All-City honoree... named the Most Valuable Player at the 2011 NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp... ranked No. 39 ranked player in the Class of 2012 by ESPN.com, No. 50 by Rivals.com and No. 47 by Scout.com.

Does next years class have studs like this coming in? 2 top 100 players!! Fran hasn't shown any ability to make players better!

Had White on the bench 6 of the first 10 ******* minutes of the game with the Oglesby, Uhl, Olaseni and Clemmons lineup. So ******* stupid.

Boom, there ya go.....absolutely no excuse...what the hell Fran? Are you putting your best players in time-out? Get over yourself and keep these guys in the game....and because of that, we were at the forefront of a scoring drought that took us out of the game early...

Back off the cliff, gang. It's basketball, sometimes the ball doesn't go through the little orange circle. Regroup and get ready for Northwestern. We're fine.

I hope we don't have any more players like Gesell coming in, I can't handle another four years of watching that. I want a good pg for once.

Seriously have to wonder wtf Fran is thinking a lot of the times. Ineffective and ill-timed rotations, allowing teams to grab and build leads while sitting on 5 timeouts when his own team can't even get a shot off before a lazy, stupid turnover, failing to call set plays when your extremely basic motion offense is stagnant and ineffective, etc, etc. To top it off he's starting to be more dickish and defiant in post game pressers. 8 goddamn mins without a single point and 7 turnovers in that span and Fran has the balls to say he doesn't regret not using a timeout. What?!?!!! ******* stupid.

Fran did not go ape$hit on the media. The whole thing was overblown BY the media so that eyeballs would go them. If the media is so brittle that they can't handle what he said barely above a whisper then they should come to HN for a month and experience to real ape$hit insults.

The way he handled it was bad. He did not go ape$hit or cause a distraction.

This team is inconsistent. Has been. If you took the previous two...count 'em...two wins to indicate this team had outgrown inconsistent play, then that's on you.

Should they have beaten Minnie? Absolutely. I didn't watch the game, but I listened to it on the radio. And when Hansen is exasperated by lack of hustle on the floor and I can hear coaches screaming over the radio "We need some energy" a couple of times...and one of those times when 3 players starters are leaving the floor (White, Gesell, and Jok/Uthoff) then

that's on the players.

Agreed. Although the team did not play, shoot well tonight, and this was a game they should have won, not sure why folks think MN was an awful team, they did play well.

Now, the next game is absolutely critical.

Go Hawks, bounce back.

Minnesota and Indiana are the only 2 top 100 teams in our last 8 games. They are not a bad team and we did not give a good effort.

Edit - Illinois is top 100.

Minnesota is a tough matchup for Iowa. They have much better guard play....Each team wins 5-10 games if you play ten. Each team one 1 game for the season....The sky isn't falling. Step away from the ledge.

The results have been better each year he's been here. is this not correct?

----"You know what, I don't know what to tell you on that," McCaffery said. "All I can tell you is I keep telling him to shoot the ball."

NO FRAN....you respond immediately with ACTIONS not words after the loss....if a player isn't following the role you expect him to, HE GOES TO THE BENCH AND STAYS THERE!!!!!!!!!!

This is great. There's not an AD or president in the country that would fire Fran for getting their team where we are from where we were. You are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Did anyone really think that Iowa would go the entire season and not lose a game they shouldv'e won? What team does that? Maybe Kentucky. Maybe.

Quit freakin out people. Jeeesh.

You're really suggesting we bench Jok, Uthoff and Ogelsby tomorrow. Because Fran made it very clear that all 3 of them were passing up shots he wanted them to take. We could actually lose tomorrow if we sit 2 of our starters and 1/3 of our rotation.
