I've never quite understood what parents think some times. I dated a girl that had the initials of A.S.S. I knew of the Pigg family in Houston, TX who named one of their daughters Ima Pigg.

Why set your kids up for ridicule if you don't need to?
 
If you read the article you will see that he is originally from the Sudan. I doubt that Jurkin translate into Sudanese as it does in English, so his parents may be forgiven. Can you imagine when he shows up for class and his teacher reads his name from the class list last name first: Jurkin, Peter.

Why set up your kids, indeed. The family in Texas is not the Pigg family, it is the Hogg family. The story of Ima Hogg is a fascinating one, and the popular take on the reason her Father, "Big Jim" Hogg insisted on the name, was to teach her humility. The Hogg family was one of the original big oil families, and Ima became an extremely important philanthropist, having several credits to her name such as a famous music competition, a collection at the Houston Art Museum, and the distinction of being the founder of the Houston Symphony. Whether her success was due to her unfortunate name is anyone's guess, but if it was, it seemed to have worked.

BTW there was once a womens player of UI whos name was Fonda Dix. I think that beats Peter Jurkin hands down.

Peter Jurken slams it home. By the way if Fonda Dix married Peter Jurken and hyphenated her last name, she would be: Fonda Jurken-Dix or I guess Fonda Dix-Jurken. It works either way.
