Kind of like a baseball that bounces over the fence isn't a ground rule double. It's an automatic double. A ground rule double is when there is something specific about a ballpark that constitutes a double, like a gate in the outfield where the ball can get through.

Sure, everyone knows that. But "It wasn't an invalid fair catch" is not a good t-shirt or sign slogan. It makes it sound like you are saying it WAS a valid fair catch with the whole double-negative thing.

Really, the shirt should read, "Our guy tried to run really fast while pointing at an errant punt with both hands, and subsequently one arm subtly moved back and forth about 1.5 times to help him keep his balance, and no one at the field-level had any inclination that he was signaling a fair catch, but a slow-motion, overhead view was used to determine that he performed an invalid fair catch signal, negating one of the most exciting plays of the college FB season and of Hawkeye FB history." You would have to use pretty small font.
