It was just ISU...

Thanks!

It's a win, move on. It really is a good thing the players don't react the same way as the fans. If they did Iowa State would have won by 50 judging from many of the posts/topics after the game.

Move on to what? Is somebody going to start breaking down UNI now?

It is a win so enjoy it. I hate to break it to you but what we as fans do or talk about will have a 0% impact on the outcome of any game.

Thanks!

It's better than coming up with awful fan rules.

It makes you sound like a drooling sports talk show host. That's not good.

I love it when fans act like they are on the team.

I have read several posts implying the crowd will lift us to a win against Indiana. This is like the antithesis of a football loss, where everyone does into suicidal dispair. We beat one OK team at home, and all of a sudden we're a top flight team again.

Watching fans is amusing.

Agreed, I can't believe some fans think Fran needs to be criticized for not starting Clemmons earlier. LOL tools.

The win doesn't stamp the Hawks as a great team yet but come on. Clown fans and the Iowa media having been fapping over iSu constantly over the past few weeks. Even the DSM Register has been taking shots at Iowa. Feels good to shut them up for at least this weekend. Back to the game though, this team has found a working formula with Clemmons and Gesell. Gesell needs to catch up to Clemmons but the team is finding an identity. Hawks should of won by more, but they're heading in the right direction. If they could ever shoot somewhat consistently from 3, they could be dangerous this year.

Get excited and remember...

1. Iowa State is a rival. None of the other schools Iowa has played is. And it shuts up Cyclone fans for awhile.
2. it's a non-conference game against a foe from the XII.
3. it's going to be worth more than a win vs. South Dakota or Texas-San Luis Abysmal.
4. it's just one game of about 21-22 that's needed for an NCAA berth.

Act like you've been there before. I wake this up morning and all I see is giant morningwood stemming from beating ISU. I was just as excited for beating South Dakota, but apparently the ISU game was our Final Four judging by the level of bonerism on the topic here.

I understand when our fans complain about the crap of a football program we have at this moment, but to bi!ch and moan about a coach, Fran McCaffery, who shows some emotion after beating an in state rival is nuts on your part.

You must be part of the KF posse where showing any level of emotion above a smile is forbidden.

Note to Fran McCaffery: Keep showing emotion like you care. It's a breath of fresh air at what is becoming a boring university to watch most sports of any kind.

You're right. Any coach who doesn't have all his rotations perfectly set before the season bes needs to be held accountable by internet trolls. LOL.

Because I'm really letting him have it?

Dude, I know you don't liek me, but you're trying to pick a fight that just isn't there.

This is pretty true. I mean, I'm definitely over it already. We played one of the worst games of the year and still won by 9 with a bunch of inexperienced freshman. ISU just isn't good. I mean, how many shots in the first half did we miss? They were bombing threes and miraculously they were going in....and we still won by 9. The real competition is b17 play.

OR MAYBE WE'RE REALLY GOOD!

I agree, but ISU seemed to have the edge with more talent/experience overall and Iowa is young right now so you can't blame most people for saying the things they did before the game. It SHOULD shut them up but if you read the ISU boards and their commments here most ISU fans act like Iowa played out of their minds and the refs gave them the game. Sad and stupid but some Iowa fans do the same thing when ISU lose games too.

ISU isn't a world beater but if they can play as a "team" and not just talented individuals they can definitely make a run at the tournament. If ISU/Hoiberg continue to recruit transfers they are going to struggle to play as a team for the first half of the season. They are getting some great kids in too but they can't keep living off transfers. Georges Niang is good, give him a couple years he will be great.

This is a quality win, yes some people are overracting but who cares! Have fun and enjoy it and be ready for cheer Iowa on next Saturday at Wells Fargo arena, I for one am gonna be there!

After the beating and humiliation we gave Indiana at Carver last season, and beating them 5 out of the last 6 games, I would imagine they are somewhat apprehensive coming to Carver, whether or not they are rated number one. Miracles happen at Carver on occasion. Purdue the last regular season game Fran's first year. Beating Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan at Carver last season was enormous for the program.....

The fans certainly give a boost to the team, but ultimately it comes down to the players, and I personally believe Indiana is in for a tough time at Carver. Mel and Gabe both played Zeller very well at Carver last season. Now we have Woody......

As far as I know we have beaten two number one teams in our basketball history. UCLA and UConn Afford's first game. The game that Dick Vitale said that Steve Alford can flat out coach.....

:)

Iowa beat an experienced, good team. Our losses were against experienced, good teams.
We beat our rival in a very exciting up and down game.
We shut down their leading scorer.

As for Clemmons. Maybe he wasnt ready to start. Why blame Fran? Were you at every practice and meeting? Do you know for a fact, that Clemmons was ready to start game 1? No. Clemmons is starting now, but we have to cry.

Also, we out rebounded one of the best rebounding teams in the nation. Rebounding is going to be an issue this season. So we progressed in that area. Excellent.

And we have lots of work to do. Teams that start 3 freshmen and a sophomore usually do. But we are progressing. We are getting better.

Are these reasons to be excited? YOU BET THEY ARE!

Screw you! The elation this victory provided will hold me for at least a week and to some degree, until next year when we play again.
