Of course, the title of this thread is based on mere speculation. But from everything I have heard, and when you combine the info on all three sites of these message boards, it seems like the "quality candidates" that are actually interested in us have increased from three years ago. There are rumors of Donovan even expressing interest now.
Of course, there's a huge difference between expressing interest and being seriously interested. Still, besides the practice facility and a little more talent within the system, what has changed from three years ago?
Perhaps it's Barta. Or at least that is my thought. I've heard(again take that for what it is) that he showed his inexperience with his last hire and did not do a good job of selling the program to prospective coaches.
As one person told me, "Barta's thought process for coaching hires mirrored Lick's process for recruiting". A prove to me why I should give it to you attitude in some ways. I found that interesting. Perhaps he learned from all of this as well.
Or, of course, perhaps some of these coaches can smell the $$$ in Iowa City. Or perhaps the likely Big Ten expansion is drawing more interest.
And of course, maybe the interest level is the same and misinformation is leading the charge. But I tend to think Barta is going to use this mulligan effectively.
