It is officially next year! 10 Fearless Predictions

To me the best part about the game is that now it is officially next year. We were able to end the most disappointing season I've ever been a fan of on a high note against a border state that we raid for recruiting.

So while I am not jumping for joy over a meaningless game in the micro, there are certainly some nice things in the macro to get excited about.

With that I offer you 10 fearless predictions for the 2011 Hawkeyes - please follow with yours:

1: JVB will not be an average QB next season. He is either going to be incredible tearing defenses apart or he is going to feel like Jake Christensen reincarnated.

2. Marcus Coker will rush for over 1,000 yards next season.

3. The other running backs on the team will combine for more than 1,000 yards next season.

4. Adam Robinson will not be on the team, but it will have been his choice. KF will offer a difficult and painful way to get back on the team, but Robinson seeing the writing on the wall opts out.

5. Norm Parker will not be the DC next year.

6. All three of the players who filed NFL paperwork will return.

7. Jordan Bernstine will finally get healthy and replace Greenwood and be HM All Big 10.

8. Iowa will go 6-1 at home next year with the loss coming to either NW or IU.

9. Iowa will not beat Penn State again.

10. With TE depth being stacked, we see the return of 2 TE sets.

Reaction to your thoughts:

1) JVB will need to learn but he does have better RAW skills than Stanzi. Give him time and a running game and he will have a good year...Ala Stanzi having Shonn Greene to bail him out.

2) Coker has shown he is the star running back of the future. He hits the hole faster than ARob can which allows him to not have to break as many tackles as ARob. The question is who is the back-up. And hopefully Brad Rogers is OK to be the lead blocker because he looked solid in his time.

3) Iowa is a not going to have back-ups with 1,000 combined. There shot was this year with Hampton who was really the 2nd best RB on the team behind Coker. If ARob is done from the team they have Johnson and Coe, maybe McCall...Nobody proven. 1,500 from Coker and 500+ from backups is more plausible.

4) ARob off the team I don't see. No reasons just think the type of person he is he would rather be a backup than not be a Hawkeye. Remember he was never expected to be more than the next Paki O'Meara.

5) From what Jon wrote about the embrace between Kirk and Norm I can see this be true. Which I believe means that Phil Parker becomes DC and we see a little more blitzing with a less than proven D-line. Hope he comes back though.

6) Sash showed in the Missouri game that he isn't ready for the pros just yet, he struggled when he had to match up with a receiver 1 on 1. McNutt did the same ans he showed he struggled against a pro ready CB. Prater showed he is actually the most NFL ready of the three but he could still get better.

7) I believe the Miller is the FS of the future. Bernstine had a great hit and stick but he was in as a nickel back not in for Greenwood when he got hurt. I think Miller showed good ball skills last night and just needs more field time to get his timing. Miller will be better than Greenwood!

8) A 6-1 prediction is solid. but I think that next year is the underdog year for Iowa like last year where they came out of nowhere. I see 7-0 at home and the only loss on the year coming at Nebraska. This sounds like a pie in the sky prediction but I like what I see in the offense for next year and I see the defense surprising people with the new blood on the line and speed at the LBs...Plus I think Nielsen comes back and continues his greatness of this year.

9) I don't see Penn State being that solid next year. They still need a QB and the problems they had this year shows that. Plus replacing Royster maybe the hardest thing to do of anything in the B10 next year.

10) Did you watch this year because I swear I saw a lot of Brad Herman and I think he is the 2nd TE. Heck last night they ran twins on one side and double tights to the other probably the most of any formation last night. Double Tight will be used when CJ shows he can block. If you see little Double Tight you know the coaches don't have confidence in CJ as a blocker. Hopefully he can figure it out because I think he can become the Best receiving TE ever at Iowa because of his size and hands. Bigger and Faster than Moeaki and Clark.

James Ferentz earns all-conference honors in his junior season in '11, setting himself up for a senior year in which people speculate if he is the greatest Hawkeye center of all-time.

James Morris earns all-conference honors at linebacker, and conversations begin that include his name, Larry Station, and Chad Greenway.

What about Angerer?

The #1 RB will make it through the year wihtout any major injuries or incidences to keep him off the field

Well, I am not going to format it as you did but here goes, I think there will be alot of talent at RB, everyone is going to want to carry as much as possible, causing a competition (which is good). We will have a very good O line with heavy RB's (kind of like WI), because we will have all that, the pressure on the qb will be reduced allowing him to "grow" into it, and he will be just fine. Our recieving core will be better than avg but nothing to count on as they will not be able to get open when being defended by some of the better teams. Our secondary will continue to grow and do very well next year (with I hope more int's and more teaching on punching the ball loose). My only real concern is with the D line, but with the high level of play from the rest I can see them working "overtime" to become better faster than most could expect. I like that we dont have a brutal start next year and gives all of them a little time to grow. 10 win season is attainable. I dont know if they can hold up to NU but Nu has some very hard games next year and injuries by the time we play them could factor in.

There will be at least one post every week calling for O'Keefe to be fired. Of all the predictions I've seen so far, this is the most likely to occur.

Oh, and by the way, Wegher will return to the team. The least likely thing to occur.
