Iowa, by rights, should have won a few of these games, but I understand that we were not going to win them ALL. These were 50/50 games, and Iowa basically came up short every time. That is a killer.
That said, I recognize that this has still been a successful year and is nice to see the team in the polls almost all year long, and almost certainly will be dancing for the first time in nearly a decade. I'm still pumped for the tournament.
That said, I really hope the team finishes strong and avoids that 7-9 seed slot. Anything 6 or higher I'll be pretty happy with. 7-9 and I will be disappointed with that because that drastically reduces our chances of making the Sweet 16 or further IMO, but I will still have the "at least we made the tournament" perspective

I'm with you. This team has ONLY lost to Top 20-25 opponents, and all of those games by single digits. Frankly, Iowa was in position to win many of those games and let some of them get away.. Iowa is not overachieving. It has the talent to stay with most any team in the country.

This is a team with good (not great) talent having a very good (not great) year. If Iowa was Top 10, I'd say this was a great year.
The word "great" is used a little too liberally IMO.. I remember a thread calling Iowa's 8-5 football season "great", even though Iowa was never ranked once all year long. It was a solid season, but not great. 2002-04, and 2009.. Those were great seasons, at least by Iowa sports standards.

Considering how long it's been since we made the tourney, you'd think we'd all be thrilled this year. Instead it's like we want TMZ to cover us. Tweets, Fran ejections, we suck b/c we lost to really good teams. Bunch of debbie downers

Hey, we are just talking about the crap that's already out there with the Tweets and ejections, etc. We aren't making this stuff up. I am not seeing many out here that don't still recognize that this has been a good year.

If they win tonight, theyre 20-7 (9-5). I figured 23-8 this year, and I think theyll end up with that or very close.

I'm going with too early to tell because one's opinion is determined by their expectations.
Coming into this year I had expectations of making the tournament. We will meet that expectation. I predicted the beginning of the season that we would finish 3rd. We may/may not meet that expectation.
This season kind of feels like the football season. We are winning the games we are suppossed to which is nice but nothing over the top to make it great thus far. The closest thing was the win at OSU but they dropped multiple games in a row and and then turning around to lose to the Buckeyes at home pretty much offset the excitement of that win.
Unlike football, all you have to do in basketball is make it to the dance and a couple wins in March could change everybody's perception in the qualify of season.

For instance, the folks who are locked in on the odds of making the Final Four may be robbing themselves of the enjoyment of the journey of a really good season by not just going for the ride.
