ISU's Best OL Out With A Broken Leg?

Chris Williams just told me he was falling behind on the depth chart and wasn't going to play much this season anyways, so shouldn't affect season that much.....o_O

Sounds to me like they've got a built-in excuse in their back pocket. It's a win-win.

I saw somewhere that with Campos out, the ISU offensive line will have 1 combined start going into the UNI game. Good thing they have the best OL coach in the country.

Their OL coach is very good. In fact I think the whole staff was a major upgrade. They will get alot more out of the players they have and continue to upgrade their recruiting.

I have not doubt they have upgraded their coaching staff. But all this best OL coach in the country is a little premature. He won an award, so obviously he is good. But there are coaches like, oh I don't know, maybe that guy over in Iowa City who put many o-lineman in the NFL. So I was more just mocking the ISU fan base for lapping up everything the administration tells them. I think it's ok to be cautiously optimistic, but many clones go far beyond that.

I was making a general comment for the people who think it is impossible for ISU to get a good coach and play better on the field. While it is too early I think there is a lot of potential in this new staff I have not seen over there in 20-30 years.

And I'm not disagreeing with you. It's ok to be optimistic. Clone fans take it to a whole other level with things like "best OL coach in the country", and "best recruiting class in cyclone history". People thought Paw was the answer when he won 6 games a couple of time, or remember the "Chiz"? Hottest coordinator in the country. How did that turn out? They are always selling the next big thing. Maybe this time they are right, but we won't know this season. Time will tell.

There is a very small window of success for a coach to stay in Ames. If they can only win a couple games a year, they get run out of town. If they can miraculously get to 6 wins, they can't run out of town fast enough. This guy will be the coach for awhile as long as he wins exactly 3-5 games per year.

As much as I hate ISU it sucks for Campos and I take no joy in his pain. The kid no doubt worked really hard and I would never wish an injury on someone (except maybe Chad Kroeger's vocal chords).

Nothing the greatest offensive line coach on the planet can't solve. Just means this monster is probably going to dominate!
