ISU-Iowa Point Spread History

How many hours do you think Roads has spent practicing his next 'So Proud' speech in front of a mirror. It might take until week 6 to get a chance to use it, but damn it, it's going to be good.

he was getting so lathered up practicing it in front of his tackling dummy, that he put an iowa jersey on it just to create the right moment...

Well he's got time for it at least, we know he's not allowed to work with the offense, and he obviously doesn't need to work with the defense as the Wizard has that covered (#58straightgamesholdingopponentsunder72pointsinregulation). So he probably walks around a lot and practices freaking out at people during practice, maybe he gets Mangino's bucket of wings ready for right after practice, you wouldn't like him when he's hungry!

Iowa has owned this series. Clowns like to say this isn't their superbowl even though everything they do and say proves otherwise. Another clown thing is to take a certain number of years and talk about how they've beat Iowa. I suggest we use a 15 year period when Iowa beat ISU every time and most of the time beat ISU like a red headed stepchild.

Still waiting for that like button.

Why? Iowa usually has a lot bigger things to play for, like contending for conference titles. What does ISU have to play for? An Insight Bowl berth in that once a decade season? Of course this game is higher up on ISU priority list. Just look at this year, we're two games in and ISU already knows they won't be going to a bowl game. This is your bowl game now.

On the other point, the public perception of ISU isn't changing from game to game. The public perception of ISU is that it's a terrible program. Iowa is not a traditional public favorite. Having a better record against the spread than an Oklahoma St or Texas Tech, definitely points to ISU getting up for this game more than others.

If we aren't matching ISU's intensity, that is an Iowa problem, not an ISU problem.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter whether the winning team prevails due to advantage in talent or due to advantage in intensity. The winning team won and the losing team lost--the end.

Both talent and intensity matter. They are both "tools" that help you achieve an objective--winning the game. At the end of the day, one team achieves their objective and one team doesn't. Does it really matter which tools you use to achieve your objective? So what if Iowa has more talent if it doesn't result in a win?

If Iowa loses because it cannot match ISU's intensity, Iowa deserves to lose.

Guys,

Thought you may find this informative and wanted to pass it along. I put it together over at Cyclone Fanatic but it goes game by game with the past spreads and you can easily tell who covers or won the game back to 1977.

If you feel so inclined, check it out.

Nice article thanks for sharing.

Would you mind posting this article on your site as well. This is what Danny Sheridan, the most respected line setter in the world thinks of ISU football. You could consider it a public safety measure for some of the residents of Story County and the city of Ankeny. ISU fans tend to be somewhat delusional and after the curb stomping the Bison inflicted on opening day, it was a real hide the razor blade type situation for a lot of your fans. This is just a reality check for some of your fans as to the true state of your program.

Thanks

There are 6 B1G teams in this guy's bottom ten and honorable mentioned next 10 of worst teams in the country. If this is even remotely close to any truth, good lord. So, HALF of the B1G conference teams are in the bottom 20 in the country (of the power 5 conf's). I know the perception of the strength of the B1G is very down, but Come ON.
