ISU Game Thread

Fucking Fran. Call to to get a review!
So out on ISU!the

He should have called the TO before that to give the Lads a break and slow the
clown momentum

Clowns are very good, Final Four candidates

Proud of the Hawks tonight that played a solid game until the last 3/4 minutes

Why does Hawk D always go limp last 3 min of games?
Also think it's a factor of better team finding a way.to win. If anything, the team that underperformed here (well, untill final 3 minutes:rolleyes:) is ISU.
This is like Duke playing Loyola. A punchers chance until the inevitable talent gap and key misses to bust the mojo take over.

They bring quality players off the bench and the Hawk starters get fatigued

I was disappointed in Fran tonight. Did not seem engaged. Just sat there in response to a couple badly missed calls. Little to no emotion.
I think the team reflected his attitude.
His m.o. all season and much of last.
Is his heart in Indiana or has he been tamed by apathy and age?
Secondhand Lion.
I hope he finds the desire to roar again for it appears this is his last stage.

Now. I was there. That was a really good game. Exciting, hotly contested from the git go, some amazing individual plays, Fran’s variety of line ups was a treat to watch. Damn, I wish Drew had another year. Too many clowns in attendance. 50/50? Their Crowd turnout hurt us big time. We have two really quick guards. The student section was full.

Iowa Hawkeyes are a damn good basketball team. ISU was better in the last 4-5 minutes. Dead even for 35. They are #3 in the country, right?

Hard to imagine this Iowa team playing much better -- perhaps if Sandfort made a couple more 3s -- but hey, Dembele started out 2/2 from treyland, and he may never do that again!
These teams could play 10 times on a neutral court, and ISU would probably win all 10. Their pressure on Iowa's guards took a toll at the end of the game; reminded me a lot of the IA/TN women's game, when Iowa was even until the last 3-4 minutes, when the relentless pressure of TN's full-court press all game long finally took a toll on even Iowa's best player when Olsen dribbled the ball out of bounds and then dropped the ball out of bounds on consecutive possessions...and suddenly, game over.
This team's results thus far are very similar to last season, which shouldn't be a surprise...they are basically the same team, subbing Thelwell for Perkins. No one should be surprised. They are who they are.

I didn't watch the game other than checking the score every so often. It appears the offensive rebounding was the critical difference. ISU had 7 more shots and 10 more offensive rebounds. Three point shooting was the same for both teams. ISU had 2 more steals, but turnovers ended up the same. Too bad the final score didn't reflect how close the game was. I see only 8 players saw the floor and Pryce only got 4 minutes. Freeman only having 2 personal fouls must be a record. Rebounding remains a problem year after year.

A classic example of Iowa's rebounding woes: late in the 2nd half, game on the line, ISU misses a FT, Clones get the rebound, and hit a 3 pter on that possession. Textbook on how to lose a close game.

I still think this is a tournament team, but we shall see.
I have my doubts... I lean no atm. I think we'll have a good idea by early January if so or not. And even if we do we'll be a bubble team the whole way through Feb leading up to selection Sunday.
