Is Willies the X factor?

Well as far as Rbers go I guess I'd just as soon them put someone back there like Emmitt Smith who ran a 4.6 or even Alfred Morris who ran 4.64 or maybe a Shady McCoy who ran a 4.5 or even a Shonn Greene who ran a 4.55 or 4.63 depending on wether you use his pro day time or combine. But heck I'm okay with a healthy not worn down Mark Weisman so what do I know. For what it's worth a 10 yard dash is more important than an electric 40 time for an Rber and if you look most of this years Running Back crop ran slower times. Carlos Hyde ran a 4.66 at the combine so did Jerermy Hill....

I'm guessing Willies will be more like McNutt type player than a Ginn type player. I highly doubt Willies' speed is close to Ginn's. Willies looks like he has legit 6'3/6'4 size. Ginn was a burner. Ran 4.3 at the combine but isn't a big guy. Very skinny, listed at 5'11 or 6'0 depending on the media guide you're looking at. If Willies had that kind of speed there is no way he would have redshirted last year. He would have been running fly patterns and screens like Powell did.

This. I also think Willies could grow to be a more physical WR than Ginn ever was or will be. He really looks like he could become a faster version of McNutt, which if that comes to pass, he will legitimately put the fear of God into the hearts of defensive coordinators.

That.

I think it was James Cleveland who had a great spring game after enrolling early and wound up being incredibly productive for the Houston Cougars.

Just hope we get our fastest guys on the field together. Weisman ok in certain situations (like goal line) but we really need more speed on the field consistently and find ways to get them the ball.

Speed? Football is a physical game of execution. Speed is overrated.

I thought Ginn was taller, my bad. Willies is a lot of legs though, long legs and when he gets them going behind him he can really scoot. I saw mcnutter butters strength more from his long arms and big hands. I don't see the comparison to mcnutter really.

The OnIowa guys were very high on Willies and the WR in general. One said that Willies is at least our 3rd best WR, and "could turn into McNutt with wheels."

So excited for the season. GO HAWKS!

Iowa now has 3 dudes who will play several downs at reciever who are 6-2 or taller... At least I think so. That kind of size I don't ever remember us having at reciever.

IIRC, DJK, McNutt, And K. Davis were all taller targets.

So last year Damond Powell was the hot name "x-factor" after catching 10,000 passes in a single Juco game, and he made like one big catch in the whole season last year. Now Willies gets the fan boys attention?

To be fair I think we all knew that Powell would be a speedster and a deep threat but limited as an every down threat and a possession receiver becuase of his speed.

Willies seems like the total package.

I've seen them both in person and have much more hope and see much more potential with Willy boy

Maybe a Vincent Jackson? Tall, fast, not extremely quick.

I'm very high on Powell as well. And he contributed in many games last year, not just one game. I see Willie and Powell as an awesome combo.

In fact, I'd like to see FOUR of our receivers on the field at the same time as often as possible!!!! Smith is very good; Hillyer is very good; etc. etc.

Teams had to prepare for and account for Powell even though he didn't do much outside if that. You have to remember that Powell didn't arrive until August last year. Willies has a year on him before each touched the field in an Iowa uniform.
