Is this the swiftest and biggest fall from grace in Iowa sports hisotry?

A few weeks ago DJK ran onto the field on senior day. He did so as the leading receiver in Iowa histroy. He had tears running down his cheeks as tens of thousands chanted "DJK".

Flash forward to today... I can't think there is anything remotely similar to this in the History of Iowa football.

It's absolutely shocking to think how far apart those two things are, it's completely mind boggling.

Dude it's not even comparable. Lots of players leave the team between their freshman and sophmore years, thats not unusual.

What is unusual is you schools all time leading receiver going to the pen 3 weeks before the bowl game and 2 weeks removed from having 70,000+ give you a standing ovation.

I cant think of anything else like this...and I was on the field, right behind the lettermen, looking at DJK all the way as he soaked that in.

This is so disappointing.

I'm only 20, so I've only been watching Hawkeye sports for about 10 years. But out of the guys that I've seen, only Pierre Pierce even approaches the epic dynamic that this has reached.

Imagine if PP was Iowa's leading scorer and a senior, then maybe that would compare

Like Duff said this is mind boggling to think about and nothing that I can think of even remotely compares

Definitely. Iowa's all time leading receiver and one of the favorite players of the past few years, to prison. Hard to pull of a stumble that epic...

I agree. I've devoutly followed Hawkeye sports for 25 years and nothing comes anywhere close to this. I can't put into words everything I'm feeling right now. I'm ****** off at and feel sorry for the kid at the same time. It sucks so much to see a kid with everything going for him do something so utterly stupid. I really hope that he learns his lesson from all of this.

Regardless of what the actual facts are...they will be revealed later.....most people take a hard-line stance on things like this.

For me, drug charges are the lowest rung of the ladder. I suspect a lot of people feel that way.

His fall from grace is sudden, swift and rightfully justified. I hope he gets his 5hit straightened out.

BW? Probably not, but that was a pretty hard fall too.

bw and DJK are not even comparable. DJK went in one hour to one of the most beloved hawks in the ferentz era to a guy who might as well lit a hawkeye jersey on fire and then pi$$ed on the ashes.

I was too young to really remember it, but Ronnie Harmon might be second on the list? Although his was simply suspected for the longest time

Like I said, PP is the only one I've seen that even begins to approach DJK at this point. The gap is still huge, but PP is the closest that I've seen.

As a Cyclone fan I LOVED DJK. A great athlete, charismatic... Fun to watch.. For me to hear this news today was absolutely shocking... I have to agree that this could be the all time swiftest and greatest fall from grace in Iowa sports history.
