Is this the biggest Iowa game in our generation?

Biggest in our generation (or any generation for that matter) period. And like others have said - as long as Iowa keeps winning every game from here on this season will become the biggest game ever played by the Hawkeyes.

A win Saturday will make a New Year's eve game the biggest ever. A win there would make the NCG game the biggest ever on January 11th 2016.

And if, by some miracle, they win the NCG they will enter the record books as the FIRST team to post a 15-0 record.

All that hinges on the outcome in Indy on Saturday night.

I'd put it in a tie with 1985 Michigan, with this year's game having more end of season success attached to it (going to the playoff, going 13-0) but being played outside Kinnick and against MSU; what 1985 had was the mystique of us as #1 vs UM as #2 in Kinnick with the winner having the inside track to the Rose Bowl and a possible NC.

I'd call them about equal, which is something I never thought possible in my lifetime, having been at that 1985 Michigan game when I was a student.

Now, if it was 12-0 Iowa vs 12-0 OSU, THAT would be the biggest ever, no doubt.

I am in....this is the one. I was at the 1 vs 2 in 1985, while a big game, and an important and good game, we were already recognized as a respected team, this has so much more on the line, especially in this day and age from perception and recruiting, to just the "Told you so" satisfaction!

I think once IN the CFP, with a win this Sat, the pressures from a fan perspective will not be as great going forward. From a program standpoint, a Nat'l Title would certainly make that the numero uno game...but again....I think this is the one to date that is the biggest.

There's even an argument that could be made that last week's game was almost as important (and would be in my top 10 list) as it got us the undefeated regular season and to this point that which we are now playing for.

The clinching of Hayden's first Rose Bowl and re-entering Iowa back on the college football maps ever since was also very huge! Going back to pre 60's, there was nothing compared to today in the viewership, popularity, and especially "all" media coverage and exposure. So the modern day era games certainly trump anything prior.

In the end though...MSU vs Iowa 2015, with all that is on the line....yeah, this is it...this is the one.Just win baby! GoHawks.

I know for me.. In my short life thus far.. Absolutely. Like another poster stated, this can take the program to another level.

Of course it is a huge game, but when a bunch of coaches have their careers on the line like Iowa's did this season (how soon we forget where we were before the Illinois State game), every game was a huge game. I can argue that the Iowa State game was the biggest of Kirk's career (this whole season goes differently if we hadn't won that game). My feeling is that we are playing with "house money" now, with four trophies and a Big Ten West Championship already locked up. Are we good enough to defeat MSU? Perhaps, but I'm not going to be disappointed in any way if we don't. This has been the best season in Iowa football history and it will continue past the Big Ten championship game

Due to what is at stake here makes this the biggest game in Hawkeye history.

They pay out is way more then any other game before. Can you win or get to the show as "iowa". Not just in Iowa is this huge but nationally it has impacts.

This game is HUGE to say the least. We win we are in. We win we are legit no more "soft schedule" talking heads. We win we are only two games away from not only making Hawkeyes History but for being the first college football team in history to win fifteen games and a national title with it. We set the standard for the college football nation.

Ok, I have to take slow deep breaths and get my heart rate down to normal. First things first, as we need to win the B1G title this Saturday.

Go Hawks go!!!!!!!!

No, I would rate 1985 Iowa vs. Michigan higher because it was #1 vs. #2. It was a big deal. Plus its remembered well because Iowa won in dramatic fashion, which helps.

The Rose Bowl following the 1985 season was a big deal because if Iowa had won that game, Iowa could have finished maybe #2

If iowa would have won the Orange bowl following the 2002 season, iowa maybe could have finished #3.

The Iowa-OSU game in 2009 was a defacto CCG. If Iowa wins that game it goes to the Rose Bowl.

It seems like when Iowa loses big games, they do not get remembered as well as the big games they win.

If Iowa wins the 1991 Holiday Bowl, Iowa could have finished 11-1.
If Iowa wins THIS game they are still on track for the national championship. This is bigger. Later in the season. Clear path to playoff. Win and in. This is so much bigger than iowa vs Michigan 1985. Tallest building in cedar rapids meet the empire state building. Go hawks!!!
