Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?



Wasn't the tush push still illegal when Stanley was here? Imagine if we had the Stanley tush push? That would be like a 12-yard gain every time.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess it was made legal in 2013? I don't recall teams doing it before the last couple years I guess.

I felt like the Linderbaum/Stanley sneak was automatic from 2 yards and less. I am only comfortable with our current sneak from 0.5 yard or less.

I am looking forward to some of our wrinkles off the tush push action.

Yah. Statistically Stanley Sneak was Iowa's most successful play in terms of success rate for years. Maybe in all of Hawkeye history?

And if you added up the average yards gained on QB sneaks during that era across all of college football....it had to be 2+ yards more than any other average.
 




Related...who was the best OL on that team, Wirfs or Linderbaum? And would you tab one of them as the BEST offensive lineman of the KF era? And how was BF's offense so mediocre with that much talent?
 


Had a discussion the other day with a coworker who thinks the tush push should be illegal because it's "too easy."

I think it's great. It's an advantage if your team is good at it and the defense isn't.

The people saying tush pushes should be outlawed are the same kind of people who woulld've said the forward pass and three pointers should've never been allowed. It's like when Nick Saban whined about hurry-up offenses being cheating.

If you don't like it, find a way to stop it.

This reminds me of something I saw last night. Not worthy of a thread on it's own.
I get a lot of what must be Big 10 Network posts....video montages of Big 10 coaches answering the question "What's the hardest stadium to play in..." type stuff.

One I got last night. "Who's the one player past or present you'd love to have on your team?" A couple wouldn't answer for diplomatic reasons. Kirk did not hesitate. "Bob Sanders". He did follow up with a "I probably got hundreds of guys mad at me now, but you asked. That's my answer."

Doesn't surprise me. I'm guessing Bob brought so much more to the table that only his coaches and teammates knew about.

Bob would've been a HOF'er but there's zero way to stay healthy with his playing style unfortunately.
