Is Mich getting it together - and Iowa's defense against them

Michigan had over 400 yards against both PSU and Notre Dame. Iowa's defense much less and goes to show how in most games Iowa's defense is just really very good, players know their assignments, tackle well, etc.

Did Harbaugh help save his job? That was a beat down against NDame as both teams played in the same elements. I was watching the game somewhat with the sound turned down but I thought Mich's Off line and their scheme and technique was really good. they used a lot of cross blocking, pulling and trapping to open holes. Again kudos to the Hawk defensive front 7 for not getting pushed and blown about by Michigan and I think Reiff was still out in that game so we were down a starter. Also goes to show how hard it was for the Iowa offense at Mich but they actually moved the ball over 300 yards.

Mich has a really strong defense and now their offense is moving the ball so could they beat OSU. Mich still has to play MSU but Sparty's lack of offense will be a huge liability.

I can only address this part of your post because I didn't see the UM/ND game, but this is a staple of the Parker x 2 regime. Keep things simple, understand your role within the greater machine, do your job...and if you don't do that you don't play. A couple of years ago I had brief discussions with Matt Bowen and Sean Considine...both confirmed essentially this exact point. The less you think, the faster you play; so the Parkers don't cloud your head with a ton of stuff and just allow you to be a football player. Even though the game plan changes every week, the fundamentals stay the same. Stay true to your keys, keep good eye discipline, and execute your assignment. We are as sound a football team as you'll see on defense each and every Saturday as a result. It's almost poetic when we successfully attack bubble screens, for example...you will almost always see the CB coming up, playing outside in and forcing the play into his help; you'll almost always see Geno Stone (or whoever our SS is) screaming down the alley; you'll almost always see our playside LB filling from the inside to box-in the ball carrier; then rally to the ball, 11 good guys if possible. And we tend to do these little things consistently.

Matt Bowen is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to X's and O's and football knowledge. I miss his segments on Chicago's WSCR and on ESPN.

I think this guy is a born DC, with head coaching potential. I think he volunteer coaches at Maine North HS in suburban Chicago where his four boys are starting to pass through.

I would love to see him coaching on a bigger stage, like, I don't know, Iowa. Learn the ropes from Parker and move up the ladder.

Is this Gattis's 1st year as OC for Michigan? And he came from?? Alabama?? Wherever he came from doesn't matter, I guess. The fact is he is making an impact in his 1st fucking season, BF, not so much.

Exactly and when you add in really good tackling that shuts off extra yards each play it really adds up. One or two yards less per 60 plays is a lot.

That Taxslayer Bowl was about the worst tackling Iowa defensive effort I have seen in 40 years along with a game where Fry's defense had some injuries and they couldnt tackle NW back in the mid to late 90's.

Effort is always there with Iowa players and may be why some real good players miss some plays on the sidelines.

Michigan beats MSU and somehow finds a way to beat tOSU, he's saved his job. Get blown out at home by the Buckeye, he gone.
