Is McDermott actually at risk at year end?

I really don't follow ISU hoops closely at all, but there seems to be some chatter about whether Mac could get the axe. Not that anyone other than their resident genius AD knows, but for those who do follow it, what's your assessment?

My only comment would be that since Pollard hired Mac, it will be tougher for him to pull the trigger and thereby admit failure.

The fans might want him gone, but Mac still has quite a few years left on his contract that the university would have to eat...4 or 5 years, I believe, so I'd say "no" on him being gone after this season.

I think it could be a financial issue that has him stay around. I think he is signed through 2014 or something like that.

Maybe they can use the money that is being sought to 'bowl' 'the jack' to instead buy out mickey d. clown fan wants him gone.

I know that many of you are cyclone haters and I understand that. I want them to do poorly only so they can't recruit against us. Other than that, they are Iowans, and I place Iowa above partinsanship. Greg is a personal friend of mine. After I retired I worked part time for his wife, Theresa, in Wayne, Ne. They are great people, the kind you would want your kids to play for. In the last 11 years he has gone from head coach at Wayne State, Ne, to N Dakota, UNI, and Iowa State. Hate the school if you wish, but don't hate the coach.

I liked Greg enough to not want him to take the ISU job.

He did though so now I hope he loses every game.

Today's embarrassment did it for me. I have jumped off the McD bandwagon. Good guy or not, the shoe does not fit the foot and ISU and Greg need to part ways.

The contract, not the results, will keep Greg here past this year.

I had forgotten about the additional years he got as consideration for the issues the program was facing from before his tenure. That probably does mean he'll still be there.

I like the guy personally, but I don't root for ISU to succeed unless they're playing someone else I want to see lose....like Kansas in almost any year.

He'll be back, but I really wish the Cyclone fans making fun of the attendance in Carver would stop because we'll be lucky to have more than friends and family at noncon games next year. Honestly he's lost the fanbase. Only the most diehard fans of him are not chirping at this point.
