Iowa's new assistant, Luke Barnwell, coached Overton last season with the Red Raiders where the duo combined to lead Texas Tech to a 28-9 record and trip to the Elite Eight, He entered the portal yesterday (Sunday)

Overton averaged 7.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2% from the field and 33.1% from 3-point range last season with the Red Raiders.

Overton scored a season-high 20 points against Arizona in the Big 12 Tournament championship and 12 points in a Sweet 16 overtime win over Arkansas.

Transfer portal entrant and former Texas Tech guard Kevin Overton has ties to recently hired Iowa basketball assistant Luke Barnwell.
