Is it time to start implementing a 3/4?

If Iowa wants to get better at 3rd and long they should probably stop putting LBs, who always seem to have their backs turned to the QBs for the entire play, on wideouts and go to a nickel package instead and send another rusher or spy the running QBs in this league who always seem to break the big one on 3rd down, because the LBs are covering wideouts with their backs turned to the QBs...

agree 100%, especially with Lowry back, but this doesn't seem to be an option for Norm a lot of the time. he loves his LB's, so why not more of them? (sarcasm)

I love Norm, but it's a head scratcher that Iowa seemingly insists on LBs covering WRs...sure it makes them well rounded for the next level and some are great at it from a technique standpoint, but the further they get from the LOS, the worse it's going to end for the LB...

3-4 won't work but we should add some more zone pressure. Teams are so used to taking the underneath stuff against Iowa. Zone blitz is a great way to drop a DL into passing lane and get more turnovers. Binns broke up three passes on his own.

In a nutshell, that is our best option, if we have the players to do it.

Unless MSU has completely changed schemes this year, I fail to see why this would be a good decision this week.

iowa has struggled a bit this year, so everything that has worked for this staff in their tenure at iowa is outdated, outmoded and out-of-touch with the modern day kid. our at least that is what chicken-little hawks think........

i agree with you - we've had tremendous success with our schemes - why in the heck would we want to change just because we are in a 'rebuilding' year.
