That the "Blur" is now a fraud? Once again, it gets shut down in a game outside of the Pac-10 (where defense is optional). And don't point to their passing yards as evidence to the contrary. Auburn's pass defense has been very weak all year. They rank 106th in the nation in yards allowed per game, and they were the ones coming from behind in most of their games.

This offense is nothing more than a flash in the pan. Put it against a defense that can stop the run (Boise twice, OSU, Auburn), and it goes nowhere. I'm sure if they're in the process of running the table again next year, ESPN will try to pump them up all year. But I hope the voters remember how the Ducks look when they get outside of the Pac-10.

No offense does well when you lose the battle up front. Thomas had over 300 yards passing. It just didn't translate into points.

Like i said, Auburn had the 106th ranked pass defense, so Thomas' success doesn't say a lot. Plenty of QB's put up good numbers on the Tigers.

And Oregon loses the battle up front everytime they play a defense outside of the Pac-10 (BSU, OSU, Auburn). Which is why they're a fraud.

But, but, but, the field was really, really slick and since Oregon plays so fast, it only really affected them.

I love oregon and all the flash and unis second to the hawks of course. They really need to hit the weights up front hard to match all that "speed" they have.

Is Wisconsin a fraud too? They had less than stellar performances outside of conference play as well.
As for Auburns defense it's not too good statistically but they did fine in the 2nd half of games.

They're entertaining to watch in the regular season, and I like their uniforms too. But you're right. And until they get some strength to go with that speed, they will remain a fraud.

Wisconsin NEVER got the kind of hype that Oregon did. All we heard about ALL year was Oregon. Blur this, blur that. Anybody thinking straight would have been thinking "I've seen this movie before". And what do you know, we saw it again.

Going 32-7 in the past 3 years including back to back BCS trips is about as far away from being fradulent as possible as I'm sure all of us would take what the ducks have had recently.

Oregon hurt itself with turnovers as well as not being able to take care of auburns defense. They played a good game but came up short in being able to stop Scam Newton and auburn. Auburn also had over a month to get things ready for them which is huge when you play a QSO team like the ducks and you get proper time to dissect their offense.

I understand why people doubt them, but I do view Oregon as a consistent top 10 team who can compete with any school in the nation, they played close games with both OSU and Auburn and proved that although they may not be the biggest and the strongest they can hang with the best of them.

So I suppose Georgia Tech was actually an elite team last year? I mean that offense is tough to prepare for in a week, but give a good DC a month and it's stopped cold. 32-7 in a weak Pac-10 doesn't say a lot, I'm afraid. Curiously, 4 of those 7 losses came against teams who play defense (a real change of pace for a Pac-10 team).

I'm just sick of hearing about this offense when it gets shut down against teams that don't treat defense as an optional affair. You could give any Pac-10 team a month to pick apart that offense, and Oregon would still hang 40 on them. That's clearly not the case for teams that actually play defense. I mean I'd expect them to take a step back in a bowl game, but 75 rushing yards? LaMichael James averaging 3.8 ypc? That's just ridiculous.

Seriously? Auburn didn't exactly blow them out of the water. Right, Oregon loses the national championship game by 3 points, and now we label them fraud. Easily the 2nd best team in the nation. BCS got it right again.

When you turn on espn and see a 10 day long pre-game show any team is going to seem overhyped. anyway the most annoying thing about this is me living in SEC country, i turned on the radio this morning and all i hear about is how dominating auburn was stopping the high powered offense...some of it is warranted. but really, the score was 22-19. its not like oregon was out of the game. its not like auburn got close to their scoring avereage. the sec fans ruined what was a good/great game that was played last night

It sure would have been fun to give us a shot.

Just because an offesne struggles against the most elite defensive line in the nation doesn't mean it's a fraud.

I don't think Oregon is a bad team, I actually think overall they are a great team, but I think their Offense is one of the most overhyped units in CFB. Their offense is sort of like Iowa's defense, it runs plays and its success is based on knowing that the opposing team will not executing perfectly the entire drive. As soon as a defense gets out of position, Oregon is going to bust a big play. But if a team plays a consistent base defense and assignment football, Oregon's offense can be stopped. ESPN and the such would have you believe that no matter what you do, Oregon is going to hang 40+ points on your defense. Hell, with the way the talk was coming into this game, you would have thought that Oregon's offense could have gone up against the Baltimore Raven's defense and still hung 30 on them....

I agree that Auburn's D line beat them up front, but I wouldn't go so far as to call the Ducks a fraud. They nearly won the game. A last second field goal won it for Auburn, and they were the #1 team. Give me a break. Both teams were very good. Oregon didn't take advantage of a scoring opportunity earlier in the game, and couldn't push the ball downfield. I'm not sure if that is exclusively because of scheme, the Auburn D line domination, or the Oregon QB's inability to exploit the Defensive secondary.

Oregon is definitely not a fraud, though. LOL.

I think Oregon is pretty good. They just ran into a team that was a little better. I agree with everything mentioned about their OL. The need to hit the gym.

They were completely over-matched. Auburn really dominated there. Wow.

You think this is an opinion I came to just yesterday? I've been saying this since September.

This. I think Oregon still has a very good team overall. But their offense is made out to be just an unstoppable force EVERY week by ESPN. But it's been pretty clearly demonstrated by the few teams they've faced in the past couple years who play defense that it is FAR from unstoppable.

And Duff, I would expect them to struggle some when facing a great d-line like that. But 75 yards on the ground? For a team that came in averaging 303 ypg? That goes a little further than struggling. That's being COMPLETELY shut down.

TM, this is just a royally foolish topic to try and justify your unjustified hate. Oregon is clearly not a fraud. They lost the national championship on a last second field goal; they didn't get blown off the field.

Interestingly enough, the PAC 10 team, where you claim they don't play defense, played an excellent defensive game last night, and held Auburn to 2 touchdowns under their average.
