Is Iowa's defense good enough....

To beat Nebbie, win the Big 10 championship and make a run in the playoffs? I wish we would pressure QB's more.

I think it's good enough to beat Nebraska and tOSU or Michigan. The problem with the defense has been the terrible playcalling. We get a lead and then just let teams pick us apart underneath. It's super frustrating to have the opposing team in a third and long situation and throw it to a wide open receiver for the first down because we're playing the softest zone ever. Also, we need to blitz more, that's not even debatable. Our defensive line just isn't getting pressure on the QB.

People just aren't used to watching an Iowa team that can outscore their opponents. 6 touchdowns is pretty darn good.

Hopefully that's just careful Kirk being overly careful. Maybe he won't be that way in the big games. Wishful thinking huh?

Iowa's offensive line isn't very good. Neither is the defensive line. Iowa wins by mixing it up. Surprising it's opponents. When opponents' offenses or defenses know what's coming, Iowa is screwed.

You know, you don't have to say, "I'll give you my best shot and take your best shot and still win" That's old Kirk thinking. Kudos to the new Kirk coaching staff.

Losing Ott was huge in terms of what schemes we would like to run, but cant. The Dline puts in unreal effort, just a little undersized on the edges.

I disagree on the Oline, maybe not great, but they've been pretty darn good by any measure, even more so considering the injuries and inexperience.

Do hard working and good mean the same thing?

No. It doesnt. The Dline is both undersided on the edges and we have little depth. Not getting pressure with 4 has been a detriment. Dline hasn't been very good at getting pressure, but pretty solid against the run.

Losing Ott, I believe changed the phil-osophy. Not saying Ive liked it, but I kind of get it.

Funny how much expectations have changed. Who would have thought we would be worrying because our defense wasn't "championship caliber"? They're good enough to have us at 11-0 right now and that is pretty darn good. Still not good enough though because they don't look "championship caliber ".

I was wondering if Iowa's PAT team good enough to win.

So a streak of 482 games without missing a PAT to basically a coin flip. Whaaaa...?
