I believe we are very close!! This team is a complete 180 from what they were 3 weeks ago!! It's like 2010 came around and we have a competitive team now. Aaron Fuller and Jarryd Cole have been the biggest difference. I'm actually getting excited for Iowa basketball again!!! What does everyone think?
 
I voted yes, but if there was an option of 'almost' or 'turning the corner' I would have picked those.

These last 4 games have been some of the best in a LONG time.
 
I agree....the last 4 games we have been very consistent. I am finding myself yelling at the TV during the last two road games (MSU and Indiana).....that in itself is a VERY good sign!!
 
I voted "No" because it's nowhere near where it should be...but it's definitely making progress in this half of the season, no doubt.

Have we beaten a team worth anything yet? Wow, couple wins and now are Program is back. Good Luck with that.
 
Fuller getting healthy has been absolutely huge. They now have some inside presence, which helps out Cole and also opens up the outside shot. We are not taking nearly as many three, but the ones we do take are good looks in the flow of the offense, unless they hold they ball too long and need to chuck it up at the end of the 35 sec. clock!
 
Yeah, I realized I should have put a "Almost" option afterword. Don't think I can change it now. But I would say...a year away from NCAA tourney but if they keep this up, expectations for next season will be like pre-Alford times!!
 
I voted No. Let's slow down here for a second. Yes, they have been playing better, but they were really bad earlier this year. The only thing to do was get better. I will vote Yes when they get to the NCAA tournament. That might sound like high expectations, but Iowa basketball went to the tourney 3 out of every 4 years through the 80's-90's, so...make the tourney and we can talk.
 
my vote was no but, they are heading in the right direction these past few games. now the need to contuniue building on these games
 
Is this a real poll? Until we beat a couple teams in the top half of the Big 10 i advise all the yes voters to take a cold shower
 
It's possible the foundation is being built. You have some players to work with if they all hang around. We have also have a decent class coming in. Hopefully we can keep playing this way and finish strong and build some momentum next year. If the kids have figured something out and play like this from here on out they could be a tourney team in a couple of years.

I'm not going to get too excited after a win vs Indiana and Penn State although it's nice to control a game on the road. I'm hoping this team has turned a corner and hopefully this is the rise of Iowa basketball.

We've also seen spurts before in the Licks first two years though only to go back to being a struggling basketball team so I want more consistency before I get really excited. Today was a fun game though.

Beating not very good teams?
A winning record?
Top tier of Big10?
NIT?
March Madness 3 of every 4 years?
Sweet 16 1 of every 4 years?

Only 1 of those can be answered "YES" so the overall answer is "NO"

But it was a good win because it was a road win and it was at Indiana.
 
Well we gave the top Big Ten undefeated in the conference MSU Spartans all they wanted at the Breslin Center this week.......that has to count for something!
 
I've been critical the last five years of Iowa basketball but trying to be positive now that this group of kids consisting of 99% underclassmen is actually playing their best ball in a LONG time! If they keep this up the remainder of the season and add depth and decent talent next year, the 2011-2012 season could be one of the best in a VERY LONG time.

When we've been bad for so long, games like this make you excited again. However, if the team regresses then it is right back to "here we go again"...
 
Yeah, lets not confuse one road win for the program being back. This team is getting better and showing improvement. They are starting to give me hope for the future. Let's just leave it at that. Hopefully we can get a few more wins in the Big Ten before this year is over. Go Hawks!!
 
Hard to say Iowa basketball is "back" with a win today. What it is a tremendous win and a step in the right direction, something we didnt see until the last 4 games. It certainly should give this team a lot of confidence and the feeling that they are turning the corner. I am hopeful this is the beginning of what we have known as Iowa basketball to be over the last 30 years. I expect plenty more ups and downsthis season but this could be the start of something.
 
They are playing much better but I dont think I can call that "back" but I love the play the last 3 games
 
they are moving in the right direction in a way that didn't seem possible a month ago. i'm sure lickliter would be the first to tell you that they are not "back" to the level he is aiming for.

the next three home games will be interesting: ohio state, illinois, northwestern. winning all three would be amazing but even winning two would be another step in the right direction. winning one would be treading water, and if they go oh-fer then i think they're back to where they were when they got spanked by UNI and ISU.

at this point i think the over/under for conference play should be 6-12. winning the first round conference tournament game would also be a good benchmark. i don't imagine anyone thinks they're going to break out and win 8 or 9 of the last 11, but they are definitely putting a better product on the court and they need to sustain that momentum.
 
Back, no. Improving, yes. Iowa had/has a long way to go before they are back. However, the past couple of weeks have been very encouraging.
