Is Damond Powell here yet?

Was kind of surprised he wasn't listed on the depth chart, but then wondered if he is even on campus yet. Are the transfers here yet?

I think I remember that Powell has to finish getting his associates degree before he is eligible to play D1 football. That means he won't be in Iowa City until after his semester ends in May.

Perhaps he doesn't walk in and crack the depth chart from day one anyways.
No reason he should be ether.

Isn't that what Jucos are for? Immediate help?

Depends on the situation and player. Some JUCOs come in with shirts available, some come in to compete, and some come in to play right away.

My point is that just because its a position of need doesn't mean he's going to come in and play. He's gotta earn it, just as much as anyone else. His tape looked good, so he may come in and play immediately. But he'll need to learn the system in a hurry to be effective (see last year for reference).

Ferentz on record as saying their expectations for JUCO is to come in and compete and play immediately, not project.

Dan Heiar, Cody Sokol, Eric Simmons, all JUCOs, all redshirted. Well technically Dan got kicked off the team first but still wasn't projected to play but redshirt.

Incorrect. Being forced to give up the game due to injuries is a far cry from "getting kicked off the team." Get your facts straight.

Dan Heiar got into a car accident was he was drunk, shortly after he left the team. So you are incorrect, pal.

Define "shortly after." His car accident was in April '11, but the team didn't announce he was leaving the team until December '11, after the entire '11 regular season had been played.

Sorry Jumper, you're right on the dates but ol'T-Sash
s wrong. Heiar didn't quit because of injuries.

Yes he did, douchenozzle.

Yes, he was injured but from his accident but not the reason he quit the team. If he quit football because of injuries why didn't Ferentz say so? And why did BHGP.com state within two weeks of the announcement that he left Iowa he was set to announce where he was transferring to play?

Too injured to play at Iowa but not JUCO?
