Also re-watching - just the 'O'... agree - runs that get stopped are do to being outnumbered usually as opposed to a 'weak link'.
Would like to have seen our play calling the last 2 drives of ISU game to keep running on 1st down - especially after the 6th-7th play of the drive. Thought we were getting them on heels, but incomplete (2nd & 10) is not good spot for this offense.

WOULD LOVE TO SEE END ZONE VIEW .... from watching in N End Zone Sat - not much, if any separation v. ISU or UNI defensive backs by WR's - that was where the difference was suppose to be this year, correct??

Tough to get separation when DB's know Rudock cant throw it in deep. They jump the short stuff and leave themselves vulnerable for a deep throw. So far defenses have been right, he cant throw it in.

I think as a whole the defense has not been the problem this season. Lomax getting ejected was a big reason why Iowa State scored on that possession. I agree the line didn't get a good push but Richardson is also a mobile QB and they weren't going to blitz him. The linebackers aren't playing well in pass coverage but I cant say the defense is why Iowa lost to Iowa State. The defense was gassed in the 4th quarter largely because the offense was not sustaining drives. The offense has been really bad all season long outside that last Ball State drive.

The defense was gassed because we abandoned the run game and the game became "longer". With incomplete passes, the clock stops; in fact, it is now the ONLY time the clock stops without a timeout. (When a player runs out of bounds, the clock starts back up when the ball is placed on the hash mark by the official; when there's a first down, the clock starts as soon as the chains have been advanced.) Incomplete passes are much worse than a rush for no gain because the clock continues to tick after the run but not after the incomplete. This added at LEAST the last drive for ISU - the ENTIRE drive.

Way too much horizontal passing with little results and too many incomplete passes. While a "hurry up" or "no huddle" offense will get you more plays and it's more exciting to watch, the best thing would be to get more SUCCESSFUL plays... and we aren't doing that. I'd rather go back to huddle up each play and do what we've done successfully under KF - run zone schemes and pound the ball on the ground. If we had done that (like we did a LOT in the first half) we wouldn't have been in that situation at the end of the game.

I was happy when Brian came aboard. I would have preferred he would have come in as the tight end coach, even tight end/wide receivers coach. I prefer Reece Morgan coaching o-line and brought in a known recruiter/d-line coach from outside. With Brian on the o-line Ihave no complaints. We have a good offensive line but it's hard to see it when they're 8 men in the box. Tough to get to the 2nd level against that many guys.

Pass protection has been very consistent, and very good. I don't care how good your line is, they can't block 9 with CB pinching in since they don't fear getting burnt over top...

This is spot on. After watching the games from the stands and watching again on the recorder, we are trying to run with 8 and sometimes 9 in the box. I just don't think Jake can hit the wide outs going deep, with the exception of a great catch of an overthrown ball by Willies.
