Is anyone in iowa with DirecTV as worried as I am that the heavy rain will knock out their signal?

If you're losing DirecTV in the rain apparently the guy who lined it up is frickin stupid. I only lose the signal if a severe thunderstorm is overhead and that's it.
This. Seriously, the guy who came and hooked ours up after we changed to the newer dish style said the previous guy had rigged it like crap, and that if you are losing service in rain there is something wrong, a little rain shouldn't keep you from getting signal. He actually gave me his direct # and said if i had problems with that to call him directly (instead of going through directv and it taking several days) and he would personally come and see what the problem was. Since then unless there is a storm directly above me I have had no issues.

The problem with poor installation happens when directv has more demand for new installs than there regular regional staff can handle so they hire 'outside contractors' to cover the load. By outside contractors see a-hole that is only going to work temporarily for directv and does not give a crap. Directv had a problem with this but if your system is installed properly it is more reliable than standard cable in my experience. If you have a problem with reception during wind or moderate rain call them have have them come and fix it.

And then they tack on the mandatory $30 service (or however much it is) just for a guy coming out to take a look, when it may have not been properly installed in the first place. Damn corporations, they're all corporationy.
Since they came and tightened my dish up last year, I think I have maybe lost signal once, and that was during a really bad storm. Prior to that I would lose signal whenever it rained or the wind blew, the installer said if it installed properly you should very rarely lose signal.

I'm more worried about losing NBC13 WHO.
