Is a triple double THAT important? Draymond Green last night

Ok, so I am watching the end of the MSU/PSU game last night and Draymond needs one more assist to get a triple double. Izzo new it and all of the players knew it including Draymond. I know it is cool to be only the 3rd player in your school's history to do something(Magic Johnson had 8-amazing), but I thought the end of that game was over the top. PSU is still trying to win the game and they were down around 10 points or so, still fouling. MSU's only focus was on getting the ball to Green so he could pass it to someone to score to get the last assist. They were calling timeouts to set up a play for him, intentionally missing free throws, having him bring the ball up the floor, etc. And then with about 30 seconds left Green takes the ball out of bounds and motions for Roe to go streaking down the floor. He throws a full court pass to him, he catches it and gets hammered on the lay up and it goes in. Roe bends his knee back on the play and is rolling around on the floor in serious pain. Again, they are up by double digits at this point with seconds remaining. Roe walked off the court but if this kid was to seriously get hurt over this is just completely ridiculous. I'm ok with him trying to get a triple double if it is within the flow of the game but come on MSU.

I'd be absolutely shocked if MSU was missing free throws on purpose just to help a player get a triple double.

I think it only happened once and Izzo must have said something to them after that but it was fairly obvious he was trying to miss it to get the ball back.

Well...since their season has gone to **** it looks like they were putting a lot of eggs into that basket. It's like, "Hey if we're not making the tourney at least one of our boys can get a triple double so we can celebrate that at least".

If Roe winds up on the shelf for the rest of the season could this be considered the basketball equivalent of Bama receiver, Tyrone Prothro shattering his stick and ending his career as Shula tried to get another long passing TD in a blowout?

The whole thing was just strange to me. Why is the player and team even aware of this? Geez, even the crowd was chanting "triple double" at the end of the game. It just seemed wrong to me. If you get it you get it. Now, I can even see if it was a rebound or points to leave him in there to try to accomplish it(because you don't need someone else to help you), but an assist? Hey, lets have our center play pg so he can get a meaningless stat. Give me the rock so I can pass it to someone, oh you missed here try again.

It was a completely classless move and if Roe misses even one game and they lose, the question has to be: Was it worth it?
Not a fan of Green anyway, he is a precieved leader on a team that doesn't have leadership and he does whatever he wants and Izzo just lets it go.
As it stands, I don't ever want to see a player get injured, but doing something like this and if the result is something serious...karma anyone?

Agree with you 100%. If you have to make a farce out of the game just to get some meaningless assist to get a triple-double, the triple-double doesn't mean anything plus you just made an a-hole out of yourself.
