I know George, use to work at the Fieldhouse with him. Great guy. One of the nicest guys you would meet, but don't **** him off....

Between him and "Hatchet Jack", you never really worried if there was a fight...

I remember George. Super nice guy - gentle giant type. His temper was funny, though. He would act ****** off at one second, then be over in the blink of an eye. I was never sure if he was just screwing with people, or his temper really did move that quickly. Quick as hell for his size. He would be a scary fellow to be on the wrong side of...
 
Hawkeye fan, what in the hell is going on with your program? Drug abuse? Steroid ring? Academic cheating? Around 20 players being suspended? I'll admit that I haven't really followed everything that has gone on with your program, because I really don't care that much, just snippets here and there.

I find it ironic that if this would happen to big brother on the west side of the Missouri, Hawkeye fans would be casting stones about how dirty said program is, win at all costs, cheating, dispicable head coach/AD, etc.

This stuff happens pretty much everywhere, some get caught, but I would bet that most don't. It just seems like a heck of a lot in a short period of time at the U of I.

Drug abuse? Two players have been caught with illegal drugs since the end of the season. Nothing in the public that shows any more than this, even if there have been other players who have tested positive internally (which we have no proof of) Steroid ring? Haven't seen this anywhere, rumor or otherwise. Academic cheating? Havent seen this anywhere, rumor or otherwise. Arob was rumored to have missed a class.. nice exageration there. Around 20 players being suspended? 3 have been suspended and that includes one player who decided to transfer and Arob. I'll admit that I haven't really followed everything that has gone on with your program, because I really don't care that much, just snippets here and there. You've taken about 2 snippets and messed those up or exaggerated them, and then made the rest of the "snippets" up. Nice work.

That's what I was asking. I heard that up to 20 players were rumored to be suspended for the Bowl game, reasons ranged from being caught cheating academically to internal failed drug tests.

I was just curious.
 
Hiding something and acting within stated university guidelines- of a voluntary program that is consistent with big conference BCS schools as far as standards (just as strict as Nebraska in fact)- are two different things bucko. Guns and failed drug tests (which there is no record of whatsoever) are vastly different as well. Can't speculate as to what KF or anyone would do, but his track record suggests he would do the right thing. If a handfull of players failed a drug test at your school and the first offense punishment was counseling (which it is at iowa & nebraska), and your coach didn't make the test results public, would that be 'hiding' something?

You're going to be a fun poster to spar with in the coming years. I'd suggest touching up on your Iowa football knowledge to avoid sounding like an uninformed assbag.

You can have that one as far as a rumor, however, the 20 player rumor was false. The best you can get with this is 3 players suspended, the reasons for 2 of which are unclear and unspecfied.

Steroid Ring & Drug Abuse are strong accusations. Steroid Ring is out of nowhere, and Drug Abuse is a huge stretch based on what is known.

Like I said, I don't pay much attention to the Hawks, I had just heard all of these rumors in the past few weeks. With the new ARod arrest, I was just curious as to what was going on in Iowa City, as to whether there was any truth to the rumors.

No need to be so touchy......
 
Re-read what you wrote and consider my response in that light. You started with:

Like I said, I haven't paid much attention to Iowa, was just asking about rumors I have heard.

And yes, the Big 10 is blessed to have NU, just look at how much will be made from the CCG and a possible new TV deal. Why do you think that the Big 10 did what they did with our schedule next year?

Just as NU is blessed to be a part of the Big 10. It will be very beneficial to the university and the state to be part of the Big 10/CIC, etc for academic and research reasons. As for sports, meh.....
 
74H, I was prepared to rip you for coming here and trying to stir the pot (bad choice of words, possibly). But I think you are repeating rumors that are out there as my son and I heard basically the same thing from the driver of a taxi we caught outside Sun Devil Stadium after last night's game. Either that or you are that driver.

HawkeyeNation would be deluding itself if it thought the Iowa football program wasn't suffering from some significant issues of perception beyond the hallowed confines of Kinnick. Hopefully Ferentz & Co. will be able to address those in coming weeks and months.
