Ironic Conversation with Mizzou Fan

The Mizzou alumni association had their headquarters in our motel. This is what he told me on Wednesday morning.

1) Mizzou got out-coached.
2) Their offensive coordinator is terrible.
3) I said that we tried to recruit Gabbert and he said too bad you didn't get him. Makes terrible decisions.

Wow, I should have asked him if he visited our message boards because he sounds as if he belongs. His team put up 500+ yards and it's all on the offense. No a word about giving up 219 yards rushing to one player.

wow, if he throws Gabbert under the bus for that what would he have said about Stanzi in 09? I thought their offensive coordinator called a great game except for not moving to the running game more with their quick backs in the late 3rd, 4th Qs when our guys were getting tired and we were throwing some nickel looks at them. Iowa's offensive line, Coker, and one horrible Gabbert throw were much more important than Mizzou's coaching. Their offensive staff knows what they are doing.

Considering he almost single handidly beat us it's really dumb to trash him. The throw he made was horrible but almost every other one he made was really good.

We're in total agreement. I'm just saying that might be what the guy's thinking. Agree that he's a moron for trashing Gabbert.

It just goes to show you that EVERY fan-base say's things that are similar when their team loses. I challenge anyone to show me a fan-base that doesn't.

I agree that losses bring out the ugly side of any fanbase. I did visit Tigerboard.com a few times after the game, and they did indeed spend a lot of posts complaining how terrible Gabbert is. Just confirms to me that most fanbases blame their best player when things don't go well.

There isn't one. Every fan base overreacts. It comes with the territory of loving something you can't control in my opinion.
