From article:

He is averaging 7.7 points on 63.6 percent shooting, making 7-of-11 field goal attempts, both 3-pointers and all five free throw attempts. He also has 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals during the stretch.

"I have been confident," said May, who is averaging 4.7 points and 3.6 rebounds this season. "I have been knocking down shots, knocking down free throws and getting boards. It's the little things that get you going and then a shot drops."

This is huge for the team - good teams need this kind of senior step-up down the stretch (or maybe better phrased as "teams that want to be good need this kind of senior step-up..."). It's awesome to see things clicking for Eric on an individual level, but this could be a very significant contribution as we hunker down for a potential run at a tourney bid.

It's a little unexpected, but I think the two most important guys on the team at this point in the season are May and Basabe. They've emerged as the players the rest of the team seems to feed off. May has done it through steadiness and consistency (not to mention an elevated game here lately). Basabe is doing it through hustle and toughness...two things he struggled with last season he's got in spades right now.

I am a firm believer in the ''senior season'' effect on players. Jarryd Cole, Matt Gatens and now Eric May have all played their best ball as seniors, which makes sense. But, Iowa had so few seniors in the Lick years, it hurt us big time. Adam Haluska,Bru,Horner....all had strong senior years.

That is why next year is easily the best chance for Iowa to make a splash in the tourny in years. It will be our strongest senior class since Horner,Bru,DT,Hansen. I expect Zach,Dev and Mel to play their best ball next year, and that should propel Iowa to a very good year.
