Iowa's defense will be key against Wisky

I expect Fran will throw all kinds of defensive schemes against the Badgers. I would like to see them press more, and use more man to man and disguise zones. I would also like to see them avoid a double-team on Kaminsky. Let him get his 20 points. The guy is too much of a skilled big guy that can find open shooters when he's doubled up. Woodbury and Olaseni need to chase Kaminsky when he moves to the 3-point line and dog him all day. I think Iowa needs to cover the perimeter, stay with their man, avoid over-collapsing. I think Clemmons will see a lot of time on the court to stick on their shooting guards.

On a different topic (offense), I would like to see Gesell, Uthoff, Jok, and White (if playing) drive into the paint and drive to the hoop area more to try to get some fouls or dish. I would be happy to see Iowa shoot only about 10 three-pointers, while covering up their 3-point shooters - all five of them.

Not really hopeful for a win, but it sure would be nice for the Hawks to eke this game out by a point or two, playing their guts out for 40 minutes. I think a pep talk will help. Somebody like Woodbury or White maybe.

Koenig seems to have the skill set to light up any team.....that kid can shoot and shoot w/tons of confidence, something we have none of....the perimeter is a key part of the Badgers attack against any opponent.....need everyone to put out 110% on this game if we want to get back in the mix.....run when you can on offense, but more importantly get back on "D"....It boils down to who wants it more, and I'm only talking the Iowa team, which players steps up, and who rides the pine.....The Iowa fans will be rockin b/c it's Wisconsin, and they are still higher than a kite from Iowa's beatdown of Minnesota last night in wrestling, and, oh ya, Dan & Bo are in the house.....I hope it's extremely painful for both today.....

I can't imagine Wisky will play as perfectly on offense and hope to God Iowa does not play as porous, uninspired defense than that eyesore in Madison. I'm not worried about the D vs their O. It is what it is.

I'm much more interested in Iowa's offense. Hope AW is effective (not tentative) and does not play

gingerly. I hope Woody and to whatever extent Gabe is able, are men inside, today.

Most telling will be the first 4 minutes. I've been saying I "expect" Jok, Uthoff and Mikey to come out on fire. Truth is, I'm hopeful. If they clank their first couple and Wisky scores, it'll be over right away. No way Hawks will fight back against Wisky.

Next most telling will be 2nd 4 minutes ... does Fran platoon in Clemmons, Oglesclank, Dickerson and Uhl on s c r i p t or does he let his best 5 play a bit longer, knowing that 2nd 5 are simply overmatched and will give it up?

A lot of good points. But I honestly think the most critical factor for our success is to forget about the last game. Just be lose, be excited to be playing a game on national t.v. and just go have fun. Without Jackson, WUs isn't a team that can make a living beating you off the dribble, so just go play tough man D. It's make it take it Saturday afternoon hoops. Nothing more, nothing less. Relax and go run up and down the court and enjoy playing hoops. Iowa wins.

Iowa doesn't believe they can win. If the don't, I don't. These kids aren't playing tough. WUs isn't the phvching Chicago Bulls with Jordan. Go phvching take the game. geeez.
