No one - and I mean NO ONE - will be predicting much for this team next year. Not a bad thing for the mentality of this team but don't expect even 1% of the hype Iowa got this season.
BTW, Iowa plays Nebraska (Martinez back), Michigan (D-Rob back), Northwestern (Persa back), Penn State (Bolden back) and Purdue (Marve back) that I know of for sure. These also will be most likely loses as well.

Marve will be coming off his 2nd ACL tear, and Keith Smith will be coming off one as well. Kerrigan will be gone, so their defense will be awful. So I don't know what to expect from Purdue's offense.
Bolden I don't think will be the starter next year. McGloin (sp?) has looked REALLY good. Granted this doesn't really help our case for saying we'll beat them next year.
If Rich Rod gets canned, who knows what happens with regards to D-Rob.
Persa will be coming off a ruptured Achilles', so he may or may not be as quick and slippery next year.
Martinez scares the s*it out of me, end of story.

I see 6 (maybe 7 wins) here. Northwestern is now a L in my book until proven otherwise.

This schedule and next year's team is why it's hard not to be frustrated. We had the talent and experience to do something THIS season. A 9-3/8-4 season shouldn't be disappointing but it is because the next few seasons are going to be rough.
We will actually have a decent offensive team returning next year. Vandenburg is very capable and McNutt will be back. We have weapons at RB, and much of our OL back. Defense, we lose some guys, but will have 2 starters back on the DL, Morris could make a huge leap next year, and Sash, Prater, Hyde are back. We are not going to be as terrible as some of you are pretending. We haven't lost by more than 7 points in 3 years. The schedule is actually fairly favorable. I see 7 to 8 wins next year.
I see at least 7 wins there not great but if a few things go our way we could be looking at a Big Ten championship game. Basically only one guaranteed win in division but given the way this season has played out anything can happen. Who knew Mich St would be as good as they are? Who thought Penn St would be as mediocre as they are? Or even us?

It will be important that they get off to a 4-0 start........Can't get ambushed by ISU in Ames. Pittsburgh loses Baldwin and Romeus to the NFL and the games at home, so it will be very winnable. If the Hawks start out 3-1 or 2-2 then it going to be a battle just to get to a bowl game.
Starting with this years bowl practices Vandenberg has to start thinking and preparing as if he were the starter. He'll have one tune up game and then the feces hit the fan. Pittsburgh/ISU are both winnable, but if Vandy has major struggles other than the usual growing pains, the Hawks will lose both.
NW game will have to be treated like the '03 Iowa/ISU game......I know Persa is back, but that game is almost becoming a must win next year.
Right now, I would say anywhere between 7-5 and 9-3......Clearly, this program plays better under the radar and without expectations.......so I am cautiously optimistic.

Iowa State could be tough next year. Paul Rhoads seems to be improving the Clowns. I do see as many as 9 wins next year. 7 wins is definatelly the safe bet.
The team might be reloading a bit, but there is going to be a lot of talent availible. Line should be better. New QB but he has some experiance, good RB's. Defense is a question mark as we are losing some key players.

D is a question mark but I think Iowa has a good chance of being just as good or better on D next year.
Iowa has been very short on LBs this year and have not had a consistent line up in that area. Hunter will be the only loss from the LB area besides Tarp but he hasn't played all that much this year to make a difference IMO. Morris should be better overall. I see the LB corps to be just as good as they were this year if not better as long as there is no injury bug next year like we had this season.
Dline will be the biggest loss of talent. Losing Ballard, Klug, and Clayborn hurts a lot but with Daniels, Lebron Daniel, and Binns I think they will do just fine. Should be fun to see who steps up in the off-season to take the 4th DL spot because I believe Iowa had a great recruiting class last year for this area.
The secondary will be a lot better I have no doubt. Hyde has definitely looked young this year but has also shown a lot of upside. Prater is solid. Sash will be back. Only question for the secondary will be Greenwoods spot.

I'm not into predictions, but we'll have WR's, RB's, and Vandenburg has already shown himself to be a capable QB.
In the end, the offense will need to step up next year due to all the losses in defense. But that is the same reason I'm concerned: the offense hasn't stepped up THIS YEAR to help the defense.
