IowaLaw's Objective Post Game Report: Northwestern

Top issue is at QB, where Stanley misses wide open receivers nearly every play, or is afraid to pull the trigger and, when he does, it's a second too late to hit the open man who is no longer open. If he sees the field better, we win that game. I'm ready to give Mansell at least a quarter to see if he might not do better. Stanley is a head case right now.

The OL is not in synch on run plays, and we need to settle on a feature back, or risk more fumbles by "cold" backs in cold weather.

The LBs were non-existent yesterday, or over-pursued, leading to cutback gains by the NW RB. But really, the defense played well enough to win.

The play-calling isn't that bad. What killed us was inconsistent QB play, lack of PI calls by refs, and lack of playing our NFL-caliber TE for reasons still unknown, and the fumbles and punts. Some of that is not in our control (the refs) but a lot IS.

But the first change I'd make is at QB. Without a consistent passing threat, we will run into 8 man fronts all day. And that's where most of our losses begin and end.
