Iowa wrestler Matt McDonough has been named the Big Ten’s Wrestler of the Week.
The 125-pounder from Marion topped top-ranked Zach Sanders to lead Iowa in their recent win over Minnesota.
Among other accomplishments, McDonough gave up just one escape point while accumulating 2:56 of riding time en route to his 14th consecutive win; handed Sanders his first loss of the season; and claimed the No. 1 spot nationally at 125 following the win.
This is McDonough’s second career Wrestler of the Week award and the first this season.
The last Iowa wrestler of the week was Tony Ramos on Jan. 10.
