Iowa’s Ferentz has power, says Forbes

Dave Im sure your right when you say not all of them. I doubt all players love any coach. But over the past five years I have talked with a number of them and never heard much negative at all, about him. Not so much with a couple of position coaches. I sat in the second row right behind the defense at the big PSU game a few years ago. Coach K was going nuts on Clayborn and Ballard. I meen nuts. Kroul tried to step in and he went nuts on him. Kirk just walked down there didnt say a word and everything calmed down. The guy has a real presence about him. I think he is a great leader. Not so great on clock managment. LOL
When a grown man gets emotional after big wins, that proves he is passionate. Although I don't think all his players love and respect him. I think it is the ones that buy into the program and understand what he is trying to teach them about being a man off the field is just as important as being a player off the field.

I am so glad Coach K is gone, shame it didn't happen sooner as the d-line paid the price for a long time, which I believe also really affected the entire defense. Hopefully next year the d-line can get back to it's dominating ways in the trenches and free up the LB's to make more plays, not to mention they need the d-line to be able to put pressure on the opposing QBs since blitzing is at a minimum.

I am sure that the players as well as the coaches respect him just for different reasons. Coaches know he is their boss, he didn't like Coach K's style. Players know he didn't like DJK's style off the field. Neither one fit into Ferentz's system and Coach K is gone. DJK made it through but he could have played a lot more had he realized if he just made different choices he might have set more records at Iowa.

Don't get me started on clock management. That one and game plan, both seem to be a lost art to KF.
