It's good, yes. However most of the time schools honor scholarships in these cases. I believe they are put on "medical" scholarships and they do not count against the team. So I heard anyhow.

No such thing as a “medical scholarship.”

Teams are allowed to keep an athlete on scholarship as a non-counter if there is an injury occurring due to his or her particular sport (not allowed to compete), but there’s no different kind of scholarship.

Jones’ scholarship will count.
