Iowa Western

I have heard from a guy who has a son going to Iowa Western as a freshman to play football that Wegher and Andre Dawson (UNI and CR Wash product) are on the team there this year. Not to mention Rodney Coe. Also said Coe is up to around 275 or 280.
I hadn't heard anything about Wegher being there and didn't see anything online. Wondering if anyone heard any rumors such as this? I had heard about Dawson and obviously Coe. But that seems like an impressive list of RBs at a Juco school.

P.S. I didn't want to put Wegher's name in the thread title out of principal, although my thread would likely get more looks if I did.

I'm not a paid Scout member, but after searching Google on this topic, Wegher to IWCC was apparently discussed on their paid board a couple days ago. There might be some legs to this rumor.

I had heard that Coe was bigger. Hopefully it's good weight. Also heard he'd be playing DE there instead of RB. I hope that part is true. I think if he learns that position he could be a monster when he comes back to us. (assuming he does).

There was discussion on it and a poster was claiming this was true. He also said that it was by the urging of Coach Erb, and if Wegher proved himself in the classroom and on the field Iowa could offer him.

If true, there's suddenly a bunch of football talent at IWCC that I would assume D1 schools would be watching with possible offers at the end of a year, assuming academics and student life hold up. Wonder if either Coe or Wegher wind up back at Iowa. Somehow doubt it.

Holy crap! Coe at 275! People were trying to move him from RB to LB coming into Iowa, but DE sounds right. Hopefully things work out well for Coe and he makes it to Iowa City.

Regarding Wegher, my boys aged 8 and 10 still pretend to be him when they play football at home. I think partly because they have the Orange Bowl game on the Ipod and BW had a great game. They are always Stanzi, Wegher, DJK or McNutt.

Honestly I wouldnt mind having wegher back on the team. He has had a couple of issues but it would be a good backfield having coe and wegher run the ball. Better than Wegher and Robinson were. As for Coe, ya I hope that weight is good weight. Would love to see this guy play OLB or DE.

I don't see any reason to think we won't get Coe when he comes around again. We have a pretty good track record of keeping guys that go to Iowa Western.

Who have we kept while at IWCC?? Prater's brother didnt come back to Iowa. The FL athlete (cant recall his name) was not recruited back to Iowa. IWCC has only had a football program for few years and Iowa has placed a few players there but I dont recall any of them coming back to Iowa.

Big difference from keeping them and not recruiting them. I don't think those guys panned out. Also I believe Solomon wen this route and was a pretty good receiver for the hawks.

Soloman and Spievey went this route but not via IWCC. And Duff was obviously being sarcastic.

Here's our track record with getting guys back from JUCO:

ICCC -
Spievey - returned
Solomon - returned
Paine - would have returned were it not for off-field issues

NIACC - (team now disbanded ... former coach now at IWCC)
Robertson - gone
Bailey - gone

IWCC -
Prater - gone
Blackwell - gone
Coe - we'll see

Kirkwood - (no football team)
Greene - returned

-----------------------------------------

Quick list of Iowa Community College guys who we've brought on board (apart from recruits who ended up returning) ...

- Yanda (NIACC)
- Heiar (IWCC)
- Forgy (Ellsworth) - walk-on
- Griswold (ICCC) - walk-on
- Moylan (ICCC) - walk-on
- Smith (ICCC) - walk-on

What do you mean "suddenly"?

They had, what, 7 guys sign with D1 schools last year?

A kid went to Oregon, one to Ole Miss, and one to the Hawks. I think Kansas and Baylor also signed players from there.

You need to pay more attention.
