Don't know if you're ever going to beat a team that shoots 12-16 from 3. Iowa didn't play well, but we also got hit by the crazy randomness of college basketball.

Its not that random for a team to go lights out from 3 against Iowa.

I saw some meltdowns last year, but this one is very disappointing for me as a fan. At the half Iowa was looking like they could get off to a 3-0 start and then that trash of a second half. Just disgusting!

If, by randomness of college basketball, you mean we break down defensively and give up a boat load of open threes to one of the league's best shooting teams, then you're right.

They hit them when open, they hit them when guarded. That's how you get 12-16.

Iowa didn't play good D, but that shooting performance was still a couple standard deviations from the mean.

This is true.

I agree, MSU probably won't shoot like that again this season, but these 2nd half collapses are getting crazy. What were we up..11 at half? Outscored by 25 in the 2nd half? This can't happen. This is a mental thing. They need a team shrink or a hypnotist at halftime to make them think that the 2nd half is the first half. I'm only half joking.

It's the second time this has happened this year already.

Some of them were just insane like Valentine getting blocked the ball stays in his hands and he hits a three.

Can we please cut the crap. Its not a coincedence teams we play shoot their best games of the season. It's Iowa's heartless defense. IOWA is the common denominator here!

Some of these were contested even. I watched MSU miss a number of open 3's several nights against other teams. Go figure. It seems to happen against us a lot.
