Iowa vs PSU

I am done with BT basketball officials. Need new gene pool. I am sure someone will tell me officials don’t lose games for teams especially on the road. I call bull shit. I have watched literally 100’s and even maybe thousands of games. I am not deaf, dumb, and blind. Did not just fall off the turnip truck.
Agreed X 1000 for years!
No worse officiating in all of sports. I’ve even wished they just go “call ur own” like Field House pickup ball. Would be far more watchable and legitimized outcome. Guys know and work it out…would take no longer than all the reviews.

PSU was physical with the ball carriers in terms of impeding movement, reaching in, etc., but they were also more athletic and played with purpose and high energy. Some coaches emphasize effort on D. Fran gives it occasional lip service but it's never been a priority and it shows, especially on the road. Defense travels. Officiating is not the reason we lost the game.

Our limited athleticism particularly hurts us on perimeter D. We don't have the athletic recovery ability to close out aggressively and still recover enough to stay in front of the ball carrier. The result is that the defender is on his heels making it very comfortable for the shooter. When we do close out the result often is a foul or late defensive rotation. Think about it for a second, how many times have we watched a game where the announcers start talking about how one of the opposing players suddenly starts shooting lights out when his history is poor 3-point shooting? It's a recurring theme.

That said, this team has lost a ton of talent over the past three seasons. We've got some solid young guys that will only get better. The big question is whether Fran sticks around, and, if he leaves, will we lose that young core?

I think you have to find a way to beat this 11-11 team.....right? With NCAA aspirations in the balance.
Don't think it is as easy they are 11-11 so we should win. They are tough at home. They are improving as much or more as we have. Didn't care enough to check if the injured Indiana dude played against PSU but they went in there and won while we fell short. They still have hope of postseason play too.

"The playoffs, the playoffs, are you kidding me!!!" "The big dance, the big dance, are you kidding me!!!" "The NIT, the NIT, are you kidding me, maybe, barely, could be."

Young core? The center has potential, however his teammate from Moline (have no clue how he got Mr. Illinois basketball, unless his dad was the head of the association). He looks like Dugie Hauser out there, should be head of the Drama class!

Time will tell. Right now we have four true frosh in the rotation. Freeman has AA potential. Hopefully, he won't get lured out by a blue-blood with major NIL money.

Again, time will tell, but I think Harding will be one of the better PGs we've had for awhile. He's got some serious quicks and his passing instincts on the move are advanced for his level of development. He needs to get stronger, both physically and mentally, and adjust to B1G level talent, but that should happen with time and experience.

Dembele is very raw but he's got the tools. Right now, the game hasn't slowed down for him yet. Of the four, though, he's the one where I wouldn't be shocked if he entered the portal. Just a feeling. Pryce Sandfort has a decent all-around skill set. Probably not a high ceiling there. He'll be a solid but not spectacular player down the road.

Love your optimism, good for you, I don't see it that way, these kids should be playing at a Mid Major, Pmac should have been there too. They are a team, as they are built need to make threes in a bundle or they are toast, especially in the Big, Franny Boy is a Mid Major coach, he is out of his league, literally in the Big. Watching the Penn State game, nits are getting three rebounds after their missed shots, that's YMCA basketball on Iowa's part.

Crappy B1G officiating is no secret. It's been well documented for half a century. More than any other power conference our officials seem to be easily worked by certain coaches and influenced by home crowds.

Except our home crowd..........officials seem to be even more zealous when we are the home team. Fran effect perhaps?
