Iowa vs PSU predictions

Do you share the same outrage over the Montell situation?

OH MAN!!! Don't tell me Montell is going to transfer to Penn State too! Wow.! What's gonna happen next? Dang! Next thing somebody's gonna tell me we're not going to National Duals......Oh wait....never mind. :)

Any word on Marion wrestling this weekend?

I also think the key is the friday night match at northwestern, weighing in and having to maintain while traveling. I think for guys like St John and Ballweg who are cutting alot it may be a factor.

An even bigger factor is that McD is expected to post bonus against Pataky but his super bowl is friday night. I know no one is overlooking northwestern but I worry that if McD loses again to Precin it could shatter confidence and carry over to sunday afternoon.

McD's psyche will be fine, even if he loses. He didn't have any problem rebounding last year after losing to Escobedo in the B10 finals.

CR - Absolutely NOT! I have no problem with the team and university allowing Marion to return to the team, and it has nothing to do with how we place at nationals. I also had no problem with Long sucking it up and fulfilling his obligations to return to the ISU program. In fact, I was hoping for it. But these 2 situations are no longer comparable because of the road each decided to take. Long refused to do what was asked of him and showed his integrity. Marion showed his integrity as well...for the positive.

But if you recall, both got in trouble this spring. Montell was "suspended" and Long was "dismissed." That's different. If Long didn't have the opportunity to work his way back on to the team, what did you expect him to do? just not wrestle any more? I doubt that you, I, or anyone else on here has all the facts to know if the door was still open for him as it was w/ Montell. So i don't think you're really in a position to question his integrity.

Actually you are off on this. Long absolutly had a clear plan in place laid out for what he needed to do to return to ISU. He just did not want to man up and do the things KJ required. The only one who would have kept Andrew Long from wrestling again at ISU was Andrew Long.

CR - Factory51 beat me to the punch...It was widely reported that Long had the opportunity to work his way back onto the team and that specific requirements were outlined. In fact, it seemed that Long had more of a chance than Marion since Long was given a plan for return. So yes, I'm still questioning his integrity.

Also, according to the Hawks weekly release http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/iowa/sports/m-wrestl/auto_pdf/1011notes14.pdf Marion is not wrestling this weekend at PSU.

Just to set the record straight, St John's struggles this year aren't because he is cutting too much weight. He might not be the best at cutting but that is not a big problem for him.

It's been implied several times that DSJ is having a significant issue that has hindered his progress this season. Since it hasn't been revealed, I assume it's a physical issue the coaches don't want discussed to give his opponents a further advantage. Regardless, I wish him the best this weekend.

You could be right, but Brands had no problem saying Keddy was having injury issues last year. I'm not sure he ever said what the exact injury was, but he did say that something was there. Some people can put alot of the speculation off the boards if they just simply said that he was hurt, or having trouble cutting weight, or is going thru a rough time in his life. I think they just like being in the know and others aren't.

I should clarify, I wasn't implying that I knew he was having trouble cutting weight. I was just saying that he is a BIG 157 and with what happened at midlands and the fact that he doesnt appear to have the same motor he had in HS (alot of things could explain this though, not just weight cutting) I just connected the dots. Incorrectly perhaps.

But I still believe an effect will be there for anyone on the team who is making a tough cut. They have to weigh in friday, wrestle against an underated northwestern team then travel 600 miles and have to weigh in again sunday morning and then wrestle the number one team in the country.
